I am not familiar with them. But if they say Tesla cells then they are made from 2nd hand cells. Tesla do not sell their cells to 3rd parties, they use them all in house. Its says tesla cells, hmm wonder if they re NOT made in China? If so I'm in.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Jon but these are prismatic cells and make in China I believeIts says tesla cells, hmm wonder if they re NOT made in China? If so I'm in.
What does that mean for us dummies?Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Jon but these are prismatic cells and make in China I believe
"Prismatic" cells are a different shape to "cylindrical" cells, and have different power delivery characteristics. What does that mean for us dummies?
I bought from Roamer good service and knowledgeable guyI was in contact with this seller few weeks ago. The reason, he had 24v at a good price. I actually got a offfer under the asking price. My interest dropped when I asked about the cells, as in one spec says Tesla cells and on another spec mentioned prismatic. Tesla are cylindrical second hand, and prismatic probably b grade that did not pass certain tests for A grade. I dropped out since roamer can do good deals on big buy with preorder paid in advance.
The only downside appears to be perhaps being made in China; the article above seemed to suggest that unless you want an initial quick delivery of energy such as formula e cars the cylidrical cells are the way to go. But the prismatics will soon be in the majority and for slow drain usage as in a motorhome house battery they seem perfect.Ok so maybe not the best.
Aren’t most things made in China ? I don’t think we can be precious about China and it’s issues when so much in most peoples lives is made in China, I have just bought some bits and pieces for my van and there was no alternative but Chinese manufacture. The only downside appears to be perhaps being made in China; the article above seemed to suggest that unless you want an initial quick delivery of energy such as formula e cars the cylidrical cells are the way to go. The main point I was making was in relation to the 'bringer of bad news' post by funflair in relation to prismatic cells in a Lithium Battery; which was not borne out by the article he posted when used as a leisure battery.Aren’t most things made in China ? Victron ? Designed in the Netherlands but built in China?Ah OK
I know that Jon has an aversion to anything that comes from China and is waiting for a non Chinese LiFePO4 battery, this won’t be the one though
And yes there doesn’t seem to be much wrong with Prismatic vs cylindrical, I know Super-B use then in their “drop in” Epsilon battery.
I don’t think it’s all Chinese but ye some is.Victron ? Designed in the Netherlands but built in China?
Hi Steve and Denise which did you buy? I’m thinking of buying the 420Ah x 2 and your feedback has helpedI bought from Roamer good service and knowledgeable guy
Thats my point, China has got way too much control, we are allowing an un-accountable, one party state with values completely incompatible with ours to become sole supplier in too many areas. Ultimately we will get caught with our pants down like the Germans have been with Russian Gas.Aren’t most things made in China ? I agree with what you are saying to a degree, but until there is an alternative source of manufactured products we will struggle to boycott Chinese products.Thats my point, China has got way too much control, we are allowing an un-accountable, one party state with values completely incompatible with ours to become sole supplier in too many areas. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
There are some things you can't avoid buying Chinese but I always look for an alternative and even though it invariably means paying more I will usually go for that one.I agree with what you are saying to a degree, but until there is an alternative source of manufactured products we will struggle to boycott Chinese products.
Are you going to do without if you cannot find non chinese products?
It's the logic of free trade and if there were no import duties would be way worse we would probably lose the remainder of our manufacturing pretty fast. It's conveniently forgotten by people involved in making money on imports. There are some things you can't avoid buying Chinese but I always look for an alternative and even though it invariably means paying more I will usually go for that one.
I realise its no longer viable for us to make cheaper items- ironically because we ( and most of the west) have tried to build an environment where people aren't paid pitiful wages and treated like crap. Them making kids toys and the rubbish in the Bazaars isnt so much of a problem but when they re making most of our communication devices and other essentials then I think we should be encouraging other countries to make it so we at least spread our risk. Try buying a light bulb that isnt made in China.
I only bought 1 x 300ah but now realised I could have got the 460 ah in the same place, but 300 ah is probably enough as we have never run short as yet backed with 350w of solar and Denise uses as much as she wants ie kettle microwave tv and compressor cool box. If I was doing it again yes 460ah and another 175w of solar but would be a bit over the top for our use.Hi Steve and Denise which did you buy? Does it matter if these are made in China or not many goods we buy even the good quality kit is.Sorry to be the bearer of bad news Jon but these are prismatic cells and make in China I believe
It's a bit like a friend of ours refuses to buy anything French since they "made up" stories of side effects with the az vaccination because they're anti British. The fact it later turned out to be true never seemed to make any difference!.Does it matter if these are made in China or not many goods we buy even the good quality kit is.
Yes it does to some, but obviously not to everybody.Does it matter if these are made in China or not many goods we buy even the good quality kit is.
Its not exactly free trade with China. Because all businesses are in effect controlled by the state they can afford massive subsidies in areas that they consider important and keep them going until the alternatives have to give up and then as sole supplier they can charge what they like. The Steel saga was an example of this. Likewise our manufacturers are between a rock and a hard place, if they don't let China make their goods, the chinese will just copy them and sell something pretty similar at a fraction of the price. The west are sleepwalking into this. It's the logic of free trade and if there were no import duties would be way worse we would probably lose the remainder of our manufacturing pretty fast. It's conveniently forgotten by people involved in making money on imports.
