Hi
Looking at an upgrade to provide better WiFi in the van. I note that a few people recommend the Teltonika RUT950 unit.
Can this be powered from a USB socket?
Thanks
Howard

Doesn't look like it will run from USB. The manual states it rins from 8 to 30V:

Looking at the what’s in the box on Amazon it’s supplied with mains lead only🤔
There was a thread on the forum by someone who fitted one they will have the answer🤔

It has the U.K. 240v plugged mains adapter included and (I think) some are also supplied with a bare wire lead that can be used to connect to a 12v or similar power source. Mine didn’t, but I purchased it separately for a few quid as I want to keep the mains adapter for static use - they both connect to the Teltonika routers via a square 4 pin plug/socket.

The full list of power options is available on the Teltonika-Networks webpage.

The RUT950 can be powered by the supplied 230VAC PSU, optional hardwired or cigar lighter 12VDC power lead, and PoE. If going down the 12VDC route make sure you add an inline fuse and switch as the RUT950 doesn't have an ignition sensing feature.

I have a Teltonika RUT and purchased the 12v lead separately and use the 12v cigar lighter

I don’t see why it can’t be powered from a usb but why bother? The difficulty would be getting the correct lead with usb at one end and the odd little Teltonika connector at the other. There is no usb input socket. They’re designed to run from a wide variety of 12 volt sources (8v-30v) and mains 240volt.
I had the 12v cigar lighter lead and cut off the cigar lighter bit, then just spliced into the nearest 12v source which happened to be the TV aerial booster supply, adding a rocker switch.

I've a RUT240 which uses the same 4 pin power plug as the RUT950 and use it both at home and in the motorhome.

All I did was buy the 12v automotive power lead and wired it into the motorhome so all I need to do is unclip the 4 pin plug and move between locations.
