There is a guy who has done a self build on one of these who wild camps around here. Looks big inside.

I guess the issue is the weight. The chassis is designed for 7.5t to 19t vehicles. It's probably 7.5t stripped out. I don't have a licence to drive anything bigger.

Talking of repurposing old commercial vehicles, these two have made a decent job of converting an old Merc Sprinter Sainsbury's home delivery van into a modern, well designed camper.
