Can be done ......I thought closing borders was against the rules
No. It never was for exceptional reasons. Even within Schengen, let alone outside it.I thought closing borders was against the rules
It is to stop the quarantine jumpers back to Uk from popping in to spain trying to get home & no it isn't illegal under certain conditions this being one of them.I thought closing borders was against the rules

‘The Schengen Borders Code (SBC) provides Member States with the capability of temporarily reintroducing border control at the internal borders in the event of a serious threat to public policy or internal security.
The reintroduction of border control at the internal borders must be applied as a last resort measure, in exceptional situations, and must respect the principle of proportionality.
The duration of such a temporary reintroduction of border control at the internal borders is limited in time, depending on the legal basis invoked by the Member State introducing such border control.’
The scope and duration of reintroduced border control should be restricted to the bare minimum needed to respond to the threat in question. Reintroducing border control at the internal border should only be used as a measure of last resort.
The reintroduction of border control is a prerogative of the Member States. The Commission may issue an opinion regarding the necessity of the measure and its proportionality but cannot veto a Member State’s decision to reintroduce border control.’

No other way home with a van though,,,If your in Portugal it sounds as if your stranded for at least a couple of weeks.I can think of worse places,,BUSBY.It is to stop the quarantine jumpers back to Uk from popping in to spain trying to get home & no it isn't illegal under certain conditions this being one of them.
It depends if you're unlucky enough to get covid. If they're short of beds and doctors. No other way home with a van though,,,If your in Portugal it sounds as if your stranded for at least a couple of weeks.I can think of worse places,,BUSBY.
Their choice to go full time, living the dream, doing it on the cheap, vanlife is the only life, call it what you want....A lot of our friends in Portugal have been on the same aires for months all of them full time they had no where else to go as all the campsites in the U.K. were shut or shutting
I think that’s a bit harshTheir choice to go full time, living the dream, doing it on the cheap, vanlife is the only life, call it what you want....
Nowhere to go but Portugal ?A lot of our friends in Portugal have been on the same aires for months all of them full time they had no where else to go as all the campsites in the U.K. were shut or shutting
Some people don’t go fulltiming through choice there are many reasonsWhy?
Have they been forced into that lifestyle due to war, terror, or other non humane actions? I suppose not, they have done it by choice, their chosen lifestyle, avoiding this and that, dropping out of the system, if it turns sour, then so be it, make it right, take another direction, living on the cheap, freedom to do as they please....we all have difficult times, this is why we stay at home, why burden Portugal, because they need us, sure they do, just as much as they need a broken economy and a failing health system.....having a great time until its not so much a great time.I think that’s a bit harsh
I think you need to stop counting motorhomes going past your house I refuse to get into a argument with you over full timers every full timer I know pays there. wayHave they been forced into that lifestyle due to war, terror, or other non humane actions? JJ I dont think that is a fair comparison. You have land and you live there. You have not travelled over 1500km to Portugal because there is nowhere else to go. A pretty poor reason to travel so far.Oh dear...
I and some of my fellow full-time motorhomers seem to have upset Mr jumar.
I didn't realise that my choice of lifestyle might cause him so much grief.
Sorry.
