Just an FYI for anyone heading for Portsmouth. The charging for the Clean Air Zone starts on the 29th November. As far as I can tell from the map of the zone, the international ferry port is not in the zone, nor is the usual access to it via the M275.

If you plan to extend your visit past the port you can check your vehicles eligability for charges here https://www.gov.uk/clean-air-zones

Our Burstner on a Euro 5 engine seems to be OK but if you're in an older vehicle it might be worth checking.

All the best, Team GerTee.

cannot work out if you can get to whitlink terminal? As it’s on the boundary. Will send daughter when next in Portsmouth to have a look.

There's another thread on this subject, worth doing a search. Whitelink is in the zone, I think.

CAZ information lady says Whitelink is in the zone, members on here say it’s not.

There its a whole other thread on this topic bit in case you can't find it, you cannot get to Whitelink without going through the zone so you will need to check whether or not you will be agreed by visiting this website: https://www.gov.uk/clean-air-zones

Unfortunately Gunwharf Rd is in the zone and is the only vehicle access to the Wightlink terminal.

Just read my own post and spotted more typos than you would get if you tried hitting the keyboard with a mallet so here's what it should have said: "There its is a whole other thread on this topic bit but in case you can't find it, you cannot get to Whitelink without going through the zone so you will need to check whether or not you will be agreed able to by visiting this website: https://www.gov.uk/clean-air-zones

I sometimes think that posting unread is quite effective way of picking up typos because you spot the errors immediately whereas you can thoroughly check before posting and not spot them. I also think that predictive text is pants.

Thanks for the replies I was hoping to get to the whitlink port via the seafront and comings up the other side of the island. As I'm over 3.5t and euro 4 I'll give it a miss.

Getting to Wightlink ferry is definitely via "the zone". I live near the top of Portsmouth harbour.
I started the other thread asking for the Santander ferry and after many different answers it turns out the international port is out and the Whitelink in.

Me too. Portsmouth, Birmingham and Manchester are off my visit list, London would be but it was never really on it. I know there are going to be more joining these but I reckon I can avoid it for a few years yet. Silly really including MH's, they do so few miles that the environmental impact of building a new MH will never stack up.

We don’t have that option at 5250kgs and our car is 28yrs old and a proper mucky engine that’s going to get penalised everywhere :crying:

Thanks Al, I’ll consider it but not just yet. Are you in the Man zone like us?

oh yes 1/8th mile.

Our 2016 Euro5 Ducato is ok for all these zones - over 3500kg

It just seems ludicrous that if you are classed as PHGV you can get a ferry to France and Spain without being fined but not the Isle Of Wight.
So much for supporting the home tourist industry.🤬
Except that you can get to the IoW from Southampton or Lymington . . . . .
