Hoping to get to Portofino and visit the Cinque Terra area around the 10th May in a PVC as part of a 11 week tour of Italy . Any advice or tips on those two areas would be much appreciated together with any recommended campsites / sostas for both .

Finding suitable overnights may be a problem as there don't seem to be many and everywhere was packed with visitors.
We parked up on a sosta and used the train which was also packed.
We were there in April couple years ago.

Beautiful place, very limited parking anywhere, really busy, only place in the world where I've had my car broken into and stuff stolen (Lerici).

I was staying with friends so can't suggest campsites but I'd almost be tempted to get something a bit further out and get a train into Spezia or similar.

As there isn't room to park a pencil in Portofino we decided on a boat trip from Rapallo. They do tours taking in Santa Margherita on the way to Portofino. Stayed at Miraflores site (almost underneath the A12) bus stop outside.

As has been said this part of Liguria is a bit problematic for motorhomes. It's not that they aren't wanted just the roads, villages etc aren't really equipped for them

However, there's a train which runs up that coast & stops in some of the Cinque Terra.

From Santa Margherita Ligure there's a bus to Portofino or you can walk.
There's also a boat to San Fruttuoso which is nice on a good day

MH driving those coast roads is frowned upon or banned. Trust me, it's like a demolition derby.

I can’t remember exactly where we stayed but it was near or at Sestri Levante. We got the train from there to Riomaggiore and then the boat back up the coast calling in at each town to Vernazza, then the train back from there. Beautiful but very busy in mid-June.

Equipped Area Camper "Camper Levante"
Area Sosta Camper - "Levante Camper" - Sestri Levante
That's where we stayed short walk downhill to train.
It was 2 years ago so it may have changed and it's quite small.
