I have a portable freezer any one else use one. And what do you use yours for apart from food.

Portable freezer anyone else use one.?

Had this for a while now and just use to take the dogs frozen chicken
Meals in.
The chicken is cooked and packed enough for each dog each day plus a day.

I use it when we’re away overnight in the car there is a cigar lighter socket in the boot.

Defrosted the day before use and warmed up 30 seconds in the microwave or 15 mins in the gas oven.

We got this to freeze at night then plug it into one of the two 12 volt cigar lighter sockets just before travelling

On Electric Hook 240 volts but still has the 12 volt converter the small portable and the Moho freezer are used.

Never had a problem with it and we had it at 19 degrees below zero. No problems.

I have something similar without the wheels and a bit smaller. Hardly uses any lecky on 12v. I usually use it for beer in the mh so swmbo has full use of the fridge for food. Can be used as an overflow freezer if needed if turned up full wick.

Ours dog food and as you say the freezer overflow.

this one can be made into two smaller freezer compartments both at a different temps. But that is not how we have used it but have tried it and it works. One side 10 degrees and the other section. 18 degrees and it stayed the same all the time.

What is your battery setup?. I have just bought one to use as a chiller and only have a 1 100ah battery and
am concerned this might not be enough to run the van /tv and the chiller overnight.

We have a Dometic CX35 which we run at -18c we had two 95 amp AGM and 1 x100 amp solar panel. One of the problems we found was the freezer is at the rear of the van (Burstner 2019 Iexo 736) and the leisire batteries were under the drivers seat. Although I fitted a heavier cable after 24 hrs without moving the voltage would drop below 12 volts at the freezer.
we have since had 2 x 100 amp lithium and 700 watts of solar fitted so that takes care of that. I think you would struggle with 1 x100 battery if of hook up and not moving for 24 hrs. If it is frozen dog food I would have thought if you bring it right down whilst travelling and when parked just at say - 2c that should cope ok.

We also have a Dometic 40 also set at -18..... leave it in the garage, then fill it with prawns / fish before we leave Spain, connected to 12v and is still solid when we get home.

We have not used it yet it the Moho but as soon as we have some information I will add to the thread.

but before the Moho it was used in the back of the car.

On this van just a single 100Ah. The portable cool/freeze box is by dometic and uses around 5A when the compressor runs, this may be for as little as 5 mins in the hour once down to temperature. We rarely if ever use the TV so can't speak for that.
