Been thinking about getting a hoover/vacuum for the van, so as to be able to clear up a bit mid trip etc.
Anyone got any recommendations?
Don’t want anything too large, that takes up to much garage space, and not to bothered whether it’s cordless or 240v, as can use powerbank if needed.
What make/model do funsters use?
A lot of the battery powered ones seem to take an age to charge up, that converts into very little actual running time.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Morning - it would be worth you searching the (numerous) previous and recent discussions on this very topic.. 👍🏻

We have a Dyson car & boat, comes with extra tools and a short hose plus 12v & 240v chargers.

Do you have a Dyson already by any chance? We bought a spare charging point off eBay for not very much money and fitted that to the motorhome. Now we just take that (minus the long arm). This also means that we avoid the problem of batteries being left uncharged for long periods which is best avoided.

Trying to decide what we really need in the way of gadgets for our travels a hoover we can manage without. We have a dustpan and brush.
We have a couple of loose mats as we walk in that can be shaken outside. Muttly hasn’t mastered wiping his feet.

i bought a gtech handheld locally yesterday with all the attachments for £25 from marketplace ....

I would buy a second hand Dirt Devil from ebay .. 240v ... about £25

This is an 'old school' belt driven rotating brush head , with dust bag ..

you can still buy spare drive belts and paper dust bags for them

bought one about 25 years ago for doing stairs in the house, then used in the RV when full time.. still in use today .. you can't buy quality like this today.

We take our Gtech Multi with us - unlike a lot of handheld vacs its has a beater bar which is great if you have carpets. Can do at least two cleans on one charge....could probably do more, but we don't do that much cleaning when on holiday ;)

For the motorhome Dyson handheld.

.. brilliant with all the different bits/ accessories, but attrocious battery life, blinking crap about 12mins.

So I got a second battery, refurbed I think, and work with two batteries, spare always fully charged.

For quick change: remove and do away with the screw in the rear of the handle (position shown by the yellow marker pencil) see photo.

Loop a cable tie around the battery to hold into position tight enough to allow it to slide along for a quick change but able to hold the battery in position.

For comfort put the cable tie fastener on the opposite side from your trigger finger.

The batteries can be charged by pushing the charger connector straight into the end of the battery, I think they fully charge in 1hr.

Sorry .. in today's prices for £40 !?

Pays your money .. get what you pay for, a nice hand-brush & pan set maybe.

Doesn't quite meet you £40 but we've got an older model of this and it works well.

Looks like it's going on sale on 21/4 (unless that was last year!)
