On the back of Cobra 's post about driveway sharing, I thought it might be a good idea to start off with a poll to see just how many people might be interested in doing this, prior to the possibility of creating a database of what's available.

Of course, this is in no way binding and you can change your mind :) It's just to get an indication of possible interest. It also doesn't inclide all the possible variables, as the number of questions is limited, but a database would allow for all types of offers.

Please choose ALL that might apply :)

By a 'short break', I mean a break in the journey for drinks, food etc. I didn't mean several days. I can't edit the question now :(

I have answered, but as we are in SW Poland it may be of limited interest, although we have had 3 visitors from another forum.

Thank you so much. Did you tick all options that apply to you? :)

Yes, of course. We have EHU, water, grey and black disposal. The downstairs dog might not welcome other animal visitors.

For me, there is a missing question:

overnight or short break?

I would only be prepared to offer an overnight stop :)

Andy

Yes, I realise my mistake. By a short break, I meant a journey break for a drink and some food etc. Unfortunately, I can't change the title now. I also couldn't ask any more questions, as there's a limit :(

Size of MH as well can let someone with say 7.5m or so park on my drive for the night with EHU from the garage, but anything bigger would struggle getting on and off the drive, 5 mins off M20 coast bound

I have answered, rural France. Size not a problem, although access road a bit narrow but it does take the school bus and bin lorry.

Providing I know in advance so I can Move my van over I can get another van on the drive up to 7.8m long.
We are 200 m from the beach and two minutes for a bus route, buses every 10 min to Brighton or Worthing.
Water tap by the drive & EHU but prefer it if EHU not used with rising lecky costs.
Also have a waste dump for cassettes.

I cannot offer anything, seventh floor apartment with low level undercove parking.

Not wanting to be a killjoy of what seems a good idea, but are there any insurance repercussions?

I think some sort of disclaimer would sort the insurance problem - agreeing absolution of anything for the ‘host’

Since the idea is that this would be offered without charge, it's going to be different to running a business. However, I did ask in a previous thread if there are any legal people here who might know whether or not a disclaimer would work and / or be needed. On the face of it, it's no different to letting friends stay but, you're right, we need to make sure. The idea of the Poll is to get an idea of how many people are interested before anyone puts any more effort into creating a database :)

Sorry no room at ours, although i do park at the front of the house for loading/unloading and overnight on occasions. I have to put our MH instorage 9 miles away.

There is a Facebook group Motorhome Driveway Stay which facilitates this kind of overnight stay.

Edit - there don’t seem to have been new posts for a while so maybe not active any more.

So far, we have 45 respondents who are able to offer a space for a quick break in the journey or an overnight stop. This is great! Does anyone here have a legal background, who might be able to advise on the use of a disclaimer to mitigate any potential issues with insurance, please? Thank you :)
