Has anyone used pitch up to book campsites ?

Would appreciate any information and experiences etc

Thanks
Graham

I only heard of this a couple of days ago on here. Positive comments.

Yes I’ve used them and every time ( without fail ) . The campsite always try and get us to book directly next time !
Hereford Rowing club campsite being an example of this .
Interesting, it would seem they take a good cut in that case. How about everything else in relation to site description, fees charged against standard fees and pitch allocation etc

We use it not had any problems, we are no longer members of any clubs so it's convenient. 🙂 Bob.
Yep that was why was making me think too.
Also noticed able to book Spanish sites over Christmas etc as well as the British sites

I was talking to a guy near me recently who has a small aire type setup and uses pitchup. He charges 13 pounds per night of which pitchup have 3 pounds.
It works for him as he doesn't want contact with campers as he's not resident on site.

It’s a business model that works on a customer looking for a location to camp that wants a quick and easy price comparison .
I would suggest you find the location you like and then book direct like Tombola does 👍🏻

I booked through Pitch up for a site in Italy, no problems.

Oh yes….. Did that on another site after speaking with the owner

My daughter uses this almost exclusively and when I've used it I find the process is so easy and they find availability when you can't.

Only ever booked one place on Pitch up and yes they do take £3 in £10 - a 30% markup.. This was once the UK opened up a bit more but not fully, just post Covid - and the owner did say Oh dear since it would have been cheaper for us without - as it happened we could only stay as long as we'd originally booked for and it was still at an affordable price for us anyway so it didn't really matter - but it might depending on your own circs - so I vote with use it for info and proceed however you decide to, from there.

Sorry but £3 on top of £7 is a 42.8% mark-up.

Used pitch up for Ashcroft Farm nr Bideford.
Worked well for me and the sight site seemed happy enough to take the final payment minus prepaid amount that had secured the booking via PU (y)

That is my only PU experience so far - would use again tho
Edit: always get site/sight swapped over

Used them lots. Good service. Price has always been the same as direct booking (I’ve checked) so no extra cost. I have occasionally been suggested by owners to book direct in future to help them. I wouldn’t easily have found the sites , with availability crucially, without pitch up.

I've used them a few times
Saves searching yourself.
Used in Northern Spain a couple of times too.

Very convenient way of finding and checking out sites, always found details and pictures correct. Believe prices are the same as if you booked direct with site but of course it costs the sites so they would prefer you dealt with them. I would recommend

Thanks everyone for all the feedback seems like overall it’s a service to use.

Will give it a go. (y)(y)

Yes, used them without problem. Same price as booking direct in my case. However, once the site is established, prices do increase but that is to be expected.
