Hi, I am looking for help with my AVIC F160 so here's hoping someone can help get my maps uptodate which are currently c2014!
1. My system has the flap that comes out of the dash with a USB tail to connect auxiliary devices, the navigation unit with the SD card is hidden but otherwise accessible. That is the only USB socket.
2. All my phones and computers these days are IOS which are not compatible with Navierxtras but I have an old Windows XP with the Navievtras Toolkit and also the Microsoft Activesync which apparently is necessary for connecting devices to XP computers.
3. I have connected the XP laptop to the F160 via USB and no matter what I do etc the F160 is not connecting to the XP laptop and Navietoolkit says no device connected.
4. I am logged into my Naviextras account, the F160 is listed as supported. Whilst at the top of the download section it does not list XP as being a compatible platform, later on it does say XP with SP2 is ok using Activesync.
I reckon I have spent nearly two days trying various ways to get a connection so I can part with £80/90 and download the new maps. There must be someone out there with a F160 who has actually updated their maps so please tell me how you did it! I know the F160 and XP are as old as the Ark but on the face of it everything is still listed as being "supported" to a sufficient degree for me to download the new maps and I hate being defeated.
Thank you in hope.
Trevor
