We will be insuring our new motorhome early Jan to allow the dealer to apply for the registration/V5.
Our insurance company is insisting that a tracker is fitted.
The only option available to us within the timescale is the Phantom Sentinel Alarm and Tracker.
Using the "search" facility appears to show mainly positive reviews.
Has anyone got this system fitted and if so, what are your thoughts?
(And yes - I know that Vanbitz is the best, but my location and timescale unfortunately rules it out).

I am planning to have this alarm fitted. My insurers, Comfort, don’t require the tracker as the van is less than £75k, my dealer is an agent for them. I think they are just fine, yes likely better ones and certainly more expensive, but I am happy from what I have read or heard.

I like the ability to have a bike alarm loop with it too.

Is your new van higher value or is it just your insurers?

Last van, new, had a Cobra alarm & tracker fitted but I can’t remember now whether that was a requirement for the tracker or just my choice. First van & I liked the idea of the tracker, I would rather not have it now.

We’ve got Phantom’s standard alarm, think it’s called Vanguard which our insurers NFU approved. Have been pleased with its price / performance over the past year.

We’re now adding their tracker as our insurers have changed their terms and now require one

Edit
I think Martin funflair has one fitted too

Currently insured with CAMC who have requested a tracker but not an alarm.
They informed me that a tracker was required on anything worth more that £55K.
I would however have both fitted.
I may move insurers but have been happy with CAMC to date.

We have the full system fitted to our motorhome and it works well. If you do opt for Phantom speak to them directly as it's cheaper than having it fitted by the dealer.

Tried having one fitted when my van was on the drive and Vanbitz were shut due to lockdown, got fed up trying to get any sense out of them and when I did get it sorted the fitter came up with loads of excuses.
They then rang me months after I had got to Vanbitz to ask if I still wanted it fitted!!

As Robert Clark suggested we have the Sentinel alarm and tracker on our Palace and we are happy with it's features and performance and just as important so are our insurers:xThumb: we have had a couple of false alarms from the ultrasonic sensors but they are sorted now so all is good, I like the fact that it is discreet with no bright flashing lights.

We have this system fitted. It is very user friendly and the app is very functional. No issues with it. The tracker seems to be accurate in pinpointing the location.
On the occasions that I have triggered the alarm accidentally there has been a pretty instantaneous response from Phantom.
Like you we needed a system up and running asap.

Mine great. If it triggers I get a text and a phone call. I can put it in service mode if needed. When it broke the guy was out to fit a new fuse for no cost and its 14 years old!

That sounds amazing service. Can you use it to completely immobilise the Motorhome using your phone like Sure stop on thecOutsmart the thief lockdown alarm. I am drawn to the Phantom myself as it is a little cheaper than The full van Bitz packages by the time you’ve added it all up and it can be fitted on your drive if the Vanbitz alarm needs something doing to it. It would be another round trip to Taunton which from Nottingham is a fair track. .

Not as far a trip as from Lossiemouth in Scotland! Main thing that puts me off Vanbitz is the fact you have to go to Taunton. I'm tempted by the Phantom myself.

and the lead in period especially if you have a brand new van and need to comply with insurance grace periods. Surprised they don't increase capacity with a trusted partner

We’re in Cheshire and we’ve been down twice and checking the MetaTrak app we need to go again ☹️

Have had a Vanbitz alarm fitted since we owned the van 15 odd years ago and they fitted a Phantom Tracker.
Customer service from both organisations has been excellent ( yes there have been minor glitches) so do not ignore the importance of the support side.
Phantom now called Moving Intelligence, have in the past always been willing to do a deal at renewal time.
The reason we went for all of this is the reassurence of knowing that when you go into a shopping centre in Spain ( or park your van in UK) and the baddies know you will be there for a while, you will get a text message from the tracker which tells you that the alarm has been activated. So many car alarms are just ignored.
Also I think, being old school , that these keyless unlocking sytems that also cancel the alarm are an invitation to clever thieves and I much prefer two seperate systems.

That's nice to hear thanks for your contribution. Do you get many false alarms? Its one of the things I am aware of ie if alarms go off too often , folks ignore them. Some would say they ignore them anyway . So you'd recomment both Vanbitz and Phantom. How different is the Phantom Sentinel from your current system ?

We've had a Phantom tracker and alarm fitted since 2016. Firstly, to our Buccaneer Cruiser caravan which did suffer from one false alarm in the South of France in storm conditions, but due to almost instant text from them 24 hours day this was easily dealt with by a personal pin number. Now we have the heavier motorhome with semi air suspension, and pleased to say no problems from false alarms.

We’ve had fewer false alarms with our Phantom system than we had from our Growler

We haven’t had any false alarms from our Strikeback Growler it the MetaTrak device that caused ours, still got to go down to Taunton to get it fixed though.

Oh no I am sorry to hear that , bit of a pain adds quite a bit for expense and time . Thank you for replying

I have the Phantom Sentinel Alarm & Tracker fitted and it certainly seems to do everything that is required. Recently had an issue, which couldn’t be resolved by a software update, so they sent our an engineer within two days.
He fitted a new upgraded unit, which gives better connectivity as it uses multiple signal providers, at no cost 😎

Any time the alarm has been accidentally triggered a text is sent, with the option to cancel it by user code. If not cancelled within a minute then the control room rings to check if everything is ok.

That is really reassuring to know, thank you for taking the time to contribute. many thanks

The only false alarms with or Sentinel have been the dashboard ultrasonics and Phantom talked me through sorting it.

I think i will go with the Phantom Sentinal as they supply and fit at your home address. I will also go with the lifetime subscription.
bobnick what is the lifetime subscription please, I’ve looked on their website and cannot readily see any charges at all
