Hi,

thoughts and suggestions welcome!

I bought a NEW Bailey 74/2 in March!
The can air con has never worked so I wanted it checked out!
My nearest Peugeot dealer that can accommodate a motorhome is 54 miles away so I booked it in!
Went along today and they put the van on “ an air con machine”, their words!

Went to collect it two hours later and was presented with a bill for £199 for gassing the system!

They had checked for leaks and found none, there was NO GAS in the system!

Not covered under warranty apparently!

I was given two options pay £199 or let them remove the gas and leave me with a non functioning air con system!

I took the first option after much deliberation and loud complaints!

I now have to try to claim my money back from my dealer, Bailey or Peugeot!

I have started the process with the dealer and will speak to Peugeot Customer Service on Monday!

I am not holding my breath but feel I must try!

Not a happy customer currently!

Why did you complain to those who repaired it?

You should have taken it to the dealer you bought it from.

All you can do now us try to claim it back from them, they should have checked it out before handover.

£199 is not much money to spend on repairing motorhome faults.

I complained because they didn’t obtain my authority to undertake chargeable work! They agreed it was their mistake and hence the offer to pump the gas back out!

I agree £199 isn’t a great deal of money but it is only three months old and under warranty!

Perhaps I am being too harsh on them?

Either it's never been filled from new or there's a leak, , the vac test works by suction so if a leak is present the suction can seal it , when they fill it with gas the pressure can open the leak again

ATS have a groupon at the moment , it's under half what you've been charged for a vehicle with the new expensive gas and under £40 for an older vehicle

Agreed, vac tests are just minus 30psi for however long the machine has been set for. A proper pressure test is done with 400psi nitrogen for 24 hours.

I recon it's got a 50/50 chance of not losing it's gas again.

If the vehicle is only 3 months old surely this is a warranty issue and if it's warranty you should be able to take it to any Peugeot dealer it doesn't have to go back to the supplying dealer personally I would have told the dealer who did the repair to pass the bill to PSA warranty dept and if they didn't want to play ball I would have made them take the gas out again if for no other reason than to cost them the technicians time to remove it
