Hi,
This unit is fitted in many MHs, mine is a Majestic 125, Elddis build. It’s a December 2015 MH and now we have done 32k miles. It’s been serviced every year and in ‘18 had first Mot. Now on way from Cambrils to Zaragoza two weeks ago stopped for a coffee, been running at 70mph, smooth as can be! When I tried to start the engine it wouldn’t fire and actually stopped cranking after a short period. Shock horror, it always starts first time even in really cold weather. The heater plugs indicator light barely stays on a second. To me it was like no fuel. After 3 or 4 minutes I tried again and away it went!! It happened again the next day same, not firing then stopped cranking. No indication on panel of a fault either.
Back in UK went to local garage to check with diagnostic tablet, no faults recorded. Phoned main Peugeot dealer in Exeter and will visit tomorrow.
Now in conversation with Service manager possible immobiliser fault, maybe program on ignition key playing up, he asked it I tried the spare key? No, I didn’t think of that. Will see what tomorrow brings? More then.
Anyone had a similar fault? It’s a great engine, technology on immobilisers is just gone daft. Disconnect it maybe, I know there are insurance issues!!
The van goes SO well I’m at a loss at the moment.
And the Immobiliser light did not show on the panel, under the tachometer!
Cheers,
Clankie

The engine is made by Ford, not Peugeot & it's the Ford Puma 2.2 TDCi.

I had something similar. Went on You Tube and there are various steps to do with hold various controls down. It was a couple of years ago, I cannot remember what I did, but it worked. Good luck.

Thank you MH 55 fun, the Peugeot dealer verified your comments from yesterday. Peugeot have never made a 2.2 engine. Good news is it has a timing chain rather than a cam belt. The techies can’t find anything wrong, so I’m really hacked off. I requested a battery change in the fob and re-program main key. Waiting for a chat with the technician, also the bill!!! More later.

Sorry, thanks to all who replied. Watch this space..,

If it actually stopped cranking, rather than kept cranking but not firing, check the earth strap between engine & chassis. I believe that they’re known for corroding and causing all manner of faults. Fix is to fit an additional strap in a more accessible location.

The dealer is wrong, Peugeot / P.S.A. made the EW & DW range of diesels with 2.2ltr capacity but they are not fitted to Boxer vans. (y)

Again thank you for PSA info, I’ve looked up the group in France, but I still have a 2.2l Puma with a timing chain!! Main dealer did not charge for diagnostic as they could not find a fault. If it happens again I will look very closely at the lights on the dash. If it had been an immobiliser issue the fault light would have come on and a fault record would have been placed on the system for a diagnostic tablet to view. There may be some issue with locking front doors with dash button when we stopped in the service area, with key in ignition. If you remove the key the whole system is immobilised till the correct key is inserted! It was suggested lock the front doors with the key fob taking the PIR and ultrasonic sensors out of circuit, ie 2 pushes of the lock button. Then when ready to drive again unlock, with 1 push, replace key in ignition which will go through the recognition process once more. Then re-start the engine. Will try that in future!!!
Also on the cranking front, I am advised there is a cut out on the power to the starter motor after a time period, this is to stop damage to starter motor and not to flatten the vehicle starting battery, not like the old days!
It’s a case of “suck it and see” I’m afraid, I do wish they had found a fault.
Technology gone daft, I still maintain, but that’s where we are, and I’m a mature student
Thanks for reading, and comments....Clankie

Hey MH, has your shower tray cracked yet? I managed to get mine replaced even though it was out of a Elddis warranty, my pal, same year Majestic, same problem again it was replaced.
