Because you can use an EU-issued Pet Passport instead of an AHC, or even a UK-issued Pet Passport if all you are doing is returning to the UK.We'll be returning to the UK in a couple of weeks so I'd also be interested to hear what others have done.
Below is from the gov.uk website, so I assume you take your AHC into the vet and get them to enter the relevant info on it. I'd also ask for an invoice as well. I don't know why they're still mentioning the pet passport though.
Check the vet has put the following details in the ‘Echinococcus treatment’ section of your dog’s pet passport or health certificate:
- the name and manufacturer of the product
- the date and time they treated your dog
- their stamp and signature
OK, thanks.Because you can use an EU-issued Pet Passport instead of an AHC, or even a UK-issued Pet Passport if all you are doing is returning to the UK.
If the rabies vaccination on your UK Pet Passport is still valid, you can use it to return to the UK and you could get the worming treatment recorded on that. If you travelled into the EU on an AHC I understand there is space on (I think) page 4 for the worming treatment to be recorded. It might be best to get the vet to write in both documents to be on the safe side. The AHC is valid for 4 months.OK, thanks.
We have the UK issued pet passport but I thought these weren't valid now.
I know what sticklers the pet passport control people are... last time we travelled the vet had put the worming treatment on the wrong page of the passport and we were refused travel, despite having the invoice to prove we'd had it done. We had to get our dog wormed again and repeat the procedure.
So, would you ask the vet to fill in the AHC and the Passport? I think the AHC was only valid for a number of days.
I'm getting confused now!
