Yes I think it was a burst abscess , the Swiss vet thought it was a snake bite. We don't think it was a snake bite as he was ill the day after the jab ( in the top of his rear leg), he didn't want to walk anywhere after that. View attachment 778501
Just out of interest, did the vet register the microchip numbers and do you have the registration document. I have an ex Irish farm rescued border collie that has an old original Irish passport and would like to find out if its still valid. Long shot I know.
What are the details of the vet in Belgium that you used, thanks
You would of been OK I think as long as you had spent 21 days after the rabies injection in Eire.fishguard
He’d did register the micro chip numbers ,I’ll have to check re the document![]()

Hope you’re right our dogs hate collars (our Boston would have to wear hers around her bellyA harness is a type of collar surely...? We just let the vet sort the worming tablets out... Slightly more money perhaps, but we've enough things to sort!
So we’re off to France next week sometime
can I ask if dogs have to have a collar ? Identity tag? Ours wear harnesses (our Boston doesn’t have a neck)
what worming tablets for return and where best to get them?
Understand that but a few have saved by supplying the tabletThe wormer tablet must be adminstered by a vet.

That is the tablet that our vet in France uses too. It looks like a dog biscuit and it is supposed to have a meat taste. She usually gives our dog an ordinary small biscuit first to allay suspicion and then the Drontal. From the .gov information, treatment must:
We use Drontal plus.
- be approved for use in the country it’s being given in
- contain praziquantel or an equivalent proven to be effective against the Echinococcus multilocularis tapeworm
'Drontal Plus are worming tablets containing 50mg praziquantel, 144mg pyrantel embonate and 150mg febantel for the control of tapeworms and roundworms'

That is much the same as our 29kg lump so I guess the only difference is the size of tablet.Ah. ok. We travel back regularly and the cost is very small for our 6.5kg Shih Tzu. The last one was in June this year and was;
I understand large dogs will be more and multiple dogs will be more again but I hope this helps you

Ours is 50% Labrador. Probably explains the difference. My dog will never be convinced by that game and has to have it down her throat!!![]()
I took Drontal as I get them as part of the vet healthcare plan and so had ready. Thanks for the replies ,what worming tablets do I have to take![]()
Should of read the postI took Drontal as I get them as part of the vet healthcare plan and so had ready.
I do urge all our visitors with dogs fully to understand the paperwork themselves, particularly since the AHC was introduced, so that they can check what the vet is doing. They usually fill in the paperwork resting on the treatment table and are always a bit distracted. If they get anything wrong and you don't notice it could be disastrous being refused access to the ferry or tunnel. Most vets we’ve used ( bar that one I mentioned in previous post who gave a drug fir tics and worms - in east Germany ) will provide drontal
Most vets are well versed with returning dogs to Uk we find- only found one who hadn’t seen an AHC brfore
