I'm with RBS and they have a "fast pay" system that is free to use and the seller gets the funds in their account within seconds.

the first m/h i bought was with readies, the second was with a bankers draught, the current one by internet transfer as the van was local-ish.
try buying a house with cash dropped off the deposit (in cash) to my solicitors and was told i HAVE to do it electronically, for which they charge !!!!
