We have been to view this Motorhome, they layout it pretty much spot in for us and it felt like a nice place to be, lots of plus things about it that we like, however they didn’t have a weight of the van as it stands and after a bit of research the payload ( maunufactures figure) is at 390kg, but then of course that’s not including extras like the awning etc.
clearly this isn’t really enough even just for the two of us, so how do I find out how much I can up plate the van ( c1 licences here so no issue there) as we’ve not found another van that has this layout that is in our £30k price range.

Have a word with this firm, knowing the weights on the VIN plate would be advantageous before you phone. 👍

If its on 215/70/r15 tyres and rated at 3500 kegs, you could fit semi air assist I fitted mine in around three hours. To get 2240 kg on the rear axle you will need 225/70/r15 tyres this will give you3850 kegs, i bought my gear from SV TEC and got them to do the plate and paperwork.

You should be able to uprate to 3850kg, the awning won't affect payload as it looks like a standard fit on that van.
You need to get it weighed and check the axle weights. If you want to uprate the rear axle to 2240 you may need semi-air, on a Fiat chassis around £500, if an Al-ko chassis £2000. 16" wheels will be OK if 15" wheels tyres would need uprating.

Please could you tell me if you changed both the wheels and tyres.

With 15" wheels you just need to fit tyres with a higher load rating which means going from 215 to 225 width.

Just looking at it it is only 6.7m and has a very short overhang so I reckon you will not have any problems with the axle at the standard 2000kg.

Thank you is that just the rear tyres that need upgrading

Yes but then your spare wouldn't match.
As I said I don't think the standard rear axle will be a problem, it's got such a small overhang compared with the norm of 2 to 2.4m.

Ours was a 7.5 coach built, on a panel van the loading will be different, SV tec will put you right. I changed all the tyres, you could if required just change the rears and spare, then do the fronts when they wear out to keep all the same.

Got the free uprade on our Aclass to 3850 but with hindsight I should have paid the £1400 option to upgrade to 4400kg. However I had already had airsuspension fitted by the towbar guy and SVTEC allowed me to go up to 4000kg with the apropriate paperwork. Its the 3rd van I have used them to upgradde and they are very helpful efficient

the very first thing you should do is weigh the actual van....get the dealer to do it, front, rear and total and then youll know what it will weigh when you add yourselves, water, clothes, bikes, bedding and any other kit you will take.
AT used to have a weight calculator on the website, the 632 sort of appealed to us a long time ago but even their own website had about nil payload after adding extras, people and kit.
get the dealer to weigh the van and youll be informed/shocked/whatever....

I would not rely on a dealerstating what fuel, water and personnel were in it t time of weighing. I would want to be there myself to check. Dealer could take it empty then put 80lt of water in and say it was in there at weighing, just to avoid losing a sale.

Fact- you cannot weigh a van by research
If the vendor wont get a current weight cert for an 11 year old van at £30k ....honestly I would walk away

I suspect that this van is not fit for your purpose on the payload front

If on a strict budget, buy one off a dealer, not a broker As well ( or someone on here)

Sadly it’s too long and not the layout we are looking for 🤔

I agree cheshirecat I’ve said I need the weight to go any further in the discussion, but as it’s a broker it’s down to the owner, tbh if we don’t get the info or it’s not the right figures we will walk away, just a shame as it’s the only van we have seen that has the layout we want, in budget, but we can wait for the right van to come along.
