Has anyone come across their debit card being blocked to the tune of €850 after purchasing only €54 of diesel? Maybe the fact that I used the high speed pump for lorries incurs a larger amount being blocked than the more usual €150? Despite many attempts to query this I have been simply advised to wait up to 10 days to see if my balance will be properly restored.

It should take only a matter of minutes, usually, you don’t know it’s happened. But,, yes, the large amount held is because you used a pump designed for HGV’s

Unless you use a UK card as then it can take a week. That's why I only use my spanish cards in France as it is a criminal offence in spain & they always take action if it occurs abroad. Even then it only returns the next day.

I had a card transaction take a month to clear. All was well in the end but I would always keep the receipt as proof
