Does anyone know of some parking in Chelmsford for our motorhome?
or somewhere with easy access into Chelmsford.
we only need to park for a short while ………we need to get near the cathedral

I phoned about park and ride.
Motorhomes not allowed.
There is a large tesco near. Perhaps parking there?

Coval Lane Long Stay Surface Car Park

Not too far from Cathedral and no height restrictions (so they say) and I recall!!

Sorry. Just checked Council web page and states it has height restrictions
Maybe telephone council parking department and ask.

Used to live there, nowhere from memory. Did go back to visit once, and believe we stayed in the car park of the premier inn at Boreham and got a taxi into town, must’ve found it on one of the apps to know it was a MH friendly stopover😉

I emailed some years back and they didn't answer, twice . I made official complaints. Answer they gave was that staff informed not to answer enquiries like mine as they assumed it was travellers.

We have friends who live at Gt Baddow and a son who lives in Chelmsford, they park on his drive when going to town but say the place is not car friendly let alone motorhome.

I'm not certain but I think it may be possible to park at one of the park and rides, possibly the Baddow one.

from Chelmsford and still have all family living there. I agree that Boreham services would be your best shout, large service area and just off the A12 p, especially if somebody is staying with the Motorhome. I would just check that you are not charged if staying over 2hrs etc.

If one of you is staying with motorhome and it's only for a short while, I would check out the bus routes and park near one (that will take you to your location) - alternatively, do a drop off and then park up anywhere there aren't double yellow lines, local housing estates are ok for a short park up, personally, that's what I would do given the lack of options
Im sure my suggestion aren't what you were hoping for, but might broaden your options, as has been said, it's not very motorhome friendly.
PS - have you considered travelling into Chelmsford by train, that might be an option and possibly provide better parking options.

There is a lay-by between Danbury and Sandon Park and ride on the A414 not a easy walk no footpath only a 5 minute drive
You can't miss the lay-by it's on the right going towards Danbury about half way between the A12 and Danbury

When are you going? I may be able to help if I'm around.

Hubby will stay with the motorhome
And I’ll go do what we have to do which is near the Cathedral which shouldn’t take long.
Looking at the lorry park out of town at the moment.
We could stop over but we was hoping to keep going to the Chunnel and cross over.

It’s for this coming Monday 23rd
Sorry, I'll still be in Scotland then. I can't think of any easy nice places. St.Fabiens Drive is a nice wide road and is quite close, with I believe a 1 hour parking permit restriction sometime during the day, but I can't remember which hour it is (possibly 10 - 11).
