‘We are not going into liquidation’ says P&O Ferries spokesperson……….

That’s crazy how can a company like that sack all U.K. workers and take on overseas in the same role, it’s not legal for starters.

Maybe register under another flag and base the head office there.

Just start praying that it's not Government action in secondment of the vessels for supporting something!

I wouldn't have thought it would go bust, i think it will be to do with cut backs or like someone said registering under a flag of convenience like shell did years ago and bringing in cheap labour. I hope it is not cheap labour because if they get away with it all the others will follow suit.

Employing cheap staff does have a realistic ring to it, guess we will find out soon enough

going to be new contract and ifyou dont sign your out of work british gas have just done the same thing gets rid of staff on high cost contracts

It is now.

When it was EU to EU port calls never leaving EU waters they needed EU staff paid at EU rates.

Now the UK is 'offshore' P&O can employ staff from anywhere in the world paid at local rates and rules for that country.

Why pay a UK seaman £15 ph and he only works a 40 hr week
when you can employ a person from a 2nd world country for £2 ph and he works a 80 hr week ?

This a genuine Brexit Benefit (If you own a ferry, and not one of the staff)

Just pointing out why the rules have changed.
What is a benefit for some will be a loss for others.
It's up to you to decide if it's a good thing or a bad thing.

If you own shares in P&O then the profit margin for the company will now increase and your dividend will go up next year.

It is true though.

True though
I did not ever see them post about anybody who did not get anything out of the eu , I think they are like everyone else only interested in themselves, and if they say otherwise I think that they are being a little economical with the truth

I feel sorry for those peeps that have booked crossings over the next few days.

Seems to be the 'in thing' unfortunately.
My daughters partner works for Network Rail. They were all called into a meeting a couple of weeks back. Contracts being terminated. They've to now travel outside their areas, adding btwn 1.5-3 hrs to their day, at their own cost, both time and fuel. And the new contract is worse terms with a 5% pay cut.
Obviously on top of all the current cost of living rises this is going to be devastating. And these are guys earning around £30k or less.
Could be fun on the railways once the unions get involved.
