Oyster Satellite and Wifi Technical Service
Good afternoon,
Just a quick update to all Oyster users.
Over the course of the year so far there have been multiple transponder changes made to Astra 2, two of which have impacted current Oyster software versions. If you currently use an Oyster fitted with either a Feature box or Command unit then please ignore this thread but those who have Oyster Vision II, Vision III or Oyster Digital system variants may find that the system is no longer able to find Astra 2.
In most cases the systems can be updated or at least the frequency list can be altered through a hidden menu in the system and, if you are aware of this the new frequencies are listed below. New software will be available to download from our website (www.ten-haaft.com) in the coming weeks but until then if your system is unable to locate Astra 2 then please give us a call in the office on 01858575928.
New transponder codes for Astra 2:
Transponder 0: 11265 V 27500 2/3
Transponder 1: 11836 H 27500 5/6
Transponder 2: 11934 V 27500 5/6
Transponder 3: 11307 H 27500 2/3
11265 is the default frequency on our latest software however if that is ever altered or turned off then the system will realise this once it has done a full search of it's elevation range (around 10 minutes for this) and switch to the next one in the list.
On a Vision II/III you can also, if impatient like me, hold the right arrow while the system is searching which will display the current search frequency. While holding that right arrow you can use the left arrow intermittently to scroll through the four that are programmed and set it to what you want.
As covered above these frequencies can be altered at any time on Vision II and Vision III systems if it's required however we do ask that the majority of customers contact us if they need to do this as it involves going into a service menu that houses base settings for the system. If the wrong thing is changed it can be detrimental to the system and can cause serious problems for the end user which Oyster Sat-Tech cannot be held responsible for.
There have also been channel changes on Astra 2 recently with BBC3 returning, W becoming free to air and a few other changes brought about my frequency reshuffles. If you have an Avtex Oyster TV we have a new channel list taking all of these changes into account which we will happily email out to anyone that asks. Please send an email to anthony@oystersat-tech.co.uk if you would like the latest list. Other makes of TV may require a rescan which unfortunately we cannot help with however the manufacturer of the receiver should be able to assist. Sky and Freesat powered systems should automatically update and should not require any adjustments.
I hope this helps but if anyone has any questions then please feel free to comment and I will answer as soon as I have time.
