Oyster satalite dish

Manual says force 5, I’d be conservative.
That's low only a stiff sea breeze.
Had an Oyster on our first van a pain in the butt having to put it down every time the wind got up & used to rattle when down in strong winds.

Force 5 sounds about right......19 - 24 mph, fresh breeze.

Force 6, 25 - 31 mph, strong breeze.....time to lower dish me thinks !!!

Also depends which way the wind is blowing. Sideways on could possibly tolerate Force 6.

Ours "flipped" in strong winds when it was in the parked down position, ruined the gearbox. Took it off and threw it away, hardly ever used the b----y thing anyway!

Yep [Retract the system during storms (75 – 80 km/h; 8 Beaufort)] 46 to 49 mph don’t think I would leave ours up in that anything like that sort of wind but that’s what they quote in their instructions.???

Here’s another snippet :
If the vehicle moves or is transported in reverse at speeds above 30 km/h, especially when being transported by truck or train, the antenna must be secured against unintended unfolding by suitable means (see 1.4 Safety precautions, page 5

I only have it as it came within the deal at the time
I did ask if we could have a dome instead but it was a Hymer incentive.
I think I may be on the lookout for a Status type aerial and remove the dish.

We’ve had an 85cm dish on last two vans and used without any problems you just need to sensible about it when wind gets a bit strong. If in doubt put it down and watch on the aerial or dvd. Actually the aerial on this van is really good, don’t know if it’s the little whip one on the roof or not?

Thanks that’s all good when you have an aerial I need to take a look at fitting one.
Then I would have no need of a dish.?

Didn’t think you were allowed to watch tv whilst driving ?

I bought one on a tripod to try sattelite tv. Think I'll stick with it. At least if it falls over no damage done and I can move it to avoid trees etc. OK, it would be possible to nick it but better that than damage a moho.

Hymer's have TV aerial as standard.

Well I’ve had it 2 years and just found the knife and fork drawer but I have not spotted an aerial yet

Ours didn't Lenny B554 Lhd 2012
Oh yes it did, it will probably have been in the over cab roof. You have to enable the 5v antenna power on your TV to power the built in amplifier. By the TV bracket there should have been a co-ax lead with an F connector same as we use for satellite.

We have a white lead with that type of connector but did try running digital but no signal I will have to luck further Lenny HB ?
Have you turned the antenna power on on the TV.
Ours works extreamly well, we have roof mounted whip aerial.

Just to give you a pointer, the roof is the place to start ?

I am not sure where the amp is if there is one fitted never mind turning it on.
But I do have a good excuse as I bought the van from a Hymer dealer and the hand over was here are your keys ??

Probably a stupid question but presumably you only get terrestrial TV on a whip aerial. So if in mainland Europe you get local TV.

Ok Lenny HB put me out of my misery I have looked on every menu and can’t find how to switch on any power
Oh it is an Oyster/Avtex

My dish comes down when it gets real windy.
Haven’t checked what the speed is at the time but when it next happens I’ll pop out with my anemometer.
