It’s a few years since we came across from Calais to Dover and the place we used at Oye Plage seems no longer available.

No doubt the question has been asked many times, but searching has thrown up info about ferries all over Europe so I’d be grateful for tips on the best stopping places for a short trip and to an early ferry from Calais

Thanks in advance

Full service campsite in Guines with restaurant about 20 mins from Calais. We use it every time.

We Use both, if you want a drink or meal out on your last night, we always use gravelines, know all the bars like a local, but if you just want to get your head down or do some last minute shopping it's cite Europe.

Cite Europe is ok and free but you can’t dump your grey or black waste or fill up with fresh water. We stayed at the new aire last month for the first time €10
5min walk to the beach and 10mins walk to Friterie des Nations - the best chips in the world. N 50.959470, E 1.832750

Sangatte aire nicer than cite europe and can have a walk on the beach in 30 seconds.

If you go round to the Carrefour filling station you can do all these things for free (y)

Dumping is free, but water is a Flot Bleu jeton, at least it was 3 days ago

Why do you need to fill with water at Calais?
If going out we always leave home with a full tank, or at least enough for a few days.
If going home you don’t want to arrive home with a full tank.

Watten, it’s lovely and quiet.

Warren seems to be very popular now, last time we got there on a Thursday evening, we just managed to squeeze into the last spot, so would be cautious if heading there on the way out, without a plan b..

We stayed on the aire in Boulogne last time. Sea view and an easy walk into town. About 30 mins from Calais.

+1 for Watten.

Has been busy the last two times we used it with one or two spaces left.

Great aire and just 25 mins in the morning to the tunnel.

Free black water dump. Electricity and water and paid, but not much.

We used a campsite in Sangatte this year on the way back and it was very good.

If you are moving farther out you can park on a huge carpark in bourbourg, plenty cafes and stuff but no services dead quiet.

Lovely campsite called Chateau Gandspette at Eperleques near St Omer. Half hour from Calais. So nice it's worth a couple of days
