Hi all,
Thinking of staying at West Cliff parking, Bournemouth, overnight/couple of days in July. Some reviewers say they have been fined for parking in designated m/cycle and cars only areas suggesting that signage might be a bit vague. Would appreciate any advice/tips from members with any experience of using this parking area, especially as to whether it is likely that we will find a space in a busy period like July.
Many thanks
Pat

The only one I can find is overstrand car park but 2.1m barrier..
all the other stops now have no overnighting and reports of fines.

Oh well, we won’t fit under there, but thanks very much for your advice anyway. Much appreciated.

We used to park overnight at west over cliff. Recently (last Aug) had a parking ticket for day parking there. Took it all the way to tribunal and sadly lost. We have a 3.5T 6 meter van. Was really p***** off. Apparently there is a councillor locally who calls up the parking team...

Oh, sorry to hear that. ☹️ Many thanks for the tip though. Our m/h is 6.3m so that’s a place for us to avoid then. Grateful 👍🏻

Oh, thanks for that Stealaway, I’ll check that out. Sounds perfect!

Lots on the local Facebook sites on the South Coast about anticipated crack downs on 'Overnight' camping of motorhomes that are expected to hit the region as the weather improves.
I for one find it strange that they classify sleeping in a vehicle illegal. Don't see many lorries with tickets that stay overnight on the main roads. Another problem is going to be around parking of said motorhomes. Many tourist spots simply do not have facilities for large vans there is either height barriers or small marked bays.

We simply stay overnight in side roads outside main tourist spots and have not encountered any problems then have researched bus routes to get us in to where we want to get too. That way we leave that van in residential areas without any issues.

Thanks for that. Not a bad idea. One that I hadn’t considered. 👍🏻

Just got a ticket for day parking on in Bournemouth and can't find any restrictions except this but it doesn't say no motorhome unlike further down the road where is only says no coaches

There really isn't any other information to say what can and can't park there, we haven't even been there over night 🙄

About 6 or 7 miles West is the Bakers Arms pub near Poole. They do overnight for motorhome. The food is good too.

We are at a hotel 200mtrs away from where to we parked for a wedding and have a 5 week old so needed to be close by for when he poos his self again 🙄

We did look for restrictions on the parking machine and the parking app we used but it doesnt say anything at all

If there are no signs on a normal public highway are you allowed to sleep in your vehicle?

Not even sleeping just parking here and have paid the rate they have said on the pay meters but got a ticket for breaching designed contravention 23 but it doesn't say what it is as it just has the signs in post #14
