I`m a newbie
Hi
After pulling back the overhead carpet I was horrified what I saw, ( pic 1 & 2 ) can someone tell me how to remove the board and the filth that’s with it, there’s about 6 nuts or bolts sunk into the board. I suppose if I can get these bolts out I’ll see the bigger picture, photos with the circles. And how do I remove the grey roof the ceiling bit for easy access, I know the fault is outside so it’s clearly time for a reseal I know but for a start I just need to know how to take the board out, I will be tackling this job myself as and when I’m in no rush to do it in a day so for me nice and steady with minimal cost. I hope you can help me cheers.

A lot depends on who built it and how. The bolts probably hold the whole of the front overhead box to the roof of the base vehicle. A lot of MH’s are built from the base up with all the cupboards etc in place and then they put the sides on. Once this is all secure the back goes on followed by the roof. So chances are that the piece of ply was put in first and everything built off it. If it’s rotten then it needs replacing. If it’s sound then perhaps leave alone. Get it dry and paint it. Leaks are probably from top rails but it looks like it’s been leaking for a very long while. Remove the sides and have a look what the insides are like. If it’s black then the wood has probably had it and it needs replacing.

Bolts are coach bolts so will have a square under the dome head to stop them turning. The nut will probably be under the headlining of the cab.

Cheers for that, it looks to me that the sheet of ply will not come out in 1 go, I was wandering if to take off the outside front panel .....which I will be replacing, then slide out the ply, any idea as how to remove the cab ceiling because that way I will be able to view more and have a better idea.

You are going to have to do some research to find out how it was built in the first place. The Peugeot Boxer is just the base vehicle who made the bit that’s bolted on the chassis. Early MH’s were built using the same principals as caravan construction. One of the reasons the seams leak is that the body moves and the sealer dries out and them splits. Strip out the headlining by removing everything like handles and sun visors and any screws you can see. It cannot be to complicated otherwise they would never be able to fit them in the first place. The people they use to build them are not craftsmen. They just screw or nail bits together. It’s not a piece of furniture so expect it to be pretty basic. See if you can find any videos on YouTube about caravan construction or visits to factories. It’s surprising what you can learn. Hope all works out for you with your project.
