Hi new to site thanks for having me I’m converting a 68 boxer what have people done with over cab storage I’ve taken bulk head out I’ve lagged the inner with 25mm pir but need to make into some kind of locker I’m not a joiner but will have a go at most things what have people done with theirs ?

Ours has a single drop down cupboard front but we do tend to “lose” things in the big space. Depends on what you want to store there whether seperated storage is for you. It is quite a reach to the very back of the space but I am fortunate to have very long arms. I have put a length of pipe lagging in the gap at the back so that I don’t lose things down wherever that gap goes to. My over cab is fitted with a plastic tray but I don’t know if an optional extra the converters speced.

Was thinking of building a wood insert and slotting it in

I have a 61 plate Boxer (although the actual plate says 'NASH FLY'!!)

The area has been carpeted, has a lift up door, so easier to reach for things at the back of the cupboard (front of van) and, as posted above, is quite narrow

I use it for storing stuff, putting the bits that don't get used a lot at the back of the cupboard - things like:

Snowchains
Motorcycle covers
Motorcycle padlock & chains
Unicycle tools
Tow rope
Jump leads
Hook up cables
Dust pan & brush
Dish Drainer
Crockery carrier

A couple of pics:

Hope this helps

I should add that I designed the van, but a had a converter (Platinum in Gorseinon) do the conversion

Before you go adding too much wood, check your weights. Ours is Ducato LWB on maxi chassis and when we are in it with water and fuel and gas in the tanks and our bedding etc, it is right on the nose at 3500kg without anything like a bike rack.

Hi,
Not the same van, but the idea is the same. On our crafter I have built a shelf, using the existing ceiling liner as a face underneath. To the habitation area I have scribed a face panel and fitted two locker doors. We store bed covers, pillows and window covers in there. Before the build, I have insulated all the metal roof parts with dodo mat thermal acoustic 10mm and 40mm upholstery wool in the voids, all foiled and taped over with ally tape. No noise in the cab, and less heat in the sun. The cab metal roof gets very hot in summer if not insulated.
