I don't suppose anyone knows where there may be a list of aires open through the winter? I have to do an urgent drive to the South of France and need places to call at en route.

Think many are open but probably with the water turned off. There is always Camping Carpark..Well worth joining.BUSBY.

Just driven down through France and found them all open (those that we've passed by or seen or used!!) Water turned off in some of them however.

Park 4 night and search for sites. Most open in France at the moment, if ones shut there will be another very close. Nothing like the UK plenty about.

We've done plenty of winter motor homing in France over the years and in all our travels have only come across one Aire with the water turned off! However we do tend to travel full as much as possible so if we do come across an Aire with the water turned off it's no big deal! Always worth carrying some bottled water but we generally just use the tank water.

Last year in September we spent 5 days travelling to the south of France the only place we managed to get water was a village tap, all the Aires had the water turned off. They don't normally turn the water off until November but they had been turned off to discourage people travelling due to Covid.

As for the OP's question, there are many thousands of Aires in France and you can count the ones that close in the winter on one hand, just travel with a full tank.

Times are different to when we travelled regularly in winter. The last couple of years have been a completely different story! Hopefully things will return to how they were previously.

Camping car park works for us. Always water and you can plan your stops via their map

Hmm. I have to say that a quick scan through using these apps (I already use them, but not at this time of year) shows a startling number of them closed. Maybe a few names of some that have recently been visited and definitely open might be useful especially toward the south.

There are some in beach holiday areas that are only open July &
August apart from that never come across any closed other than ones outside campsites that are run by the site but you can usally still stop on them. If not no one will bother you in the village car park.

Most of the campsites are shut we've found but no shortage of Aires to stop at. Used local ones and campingcar ones quite like these as you can check how busy they are. The only one that was closed we tried was at St Jean De Monts yesterday but there was another 5 mins away.

I don't really understand. As I said earlier, we've just travelled down through France using Park4Nite and Search4Sites. Seriously, none of the Aires are showing as closed on my apps, and I've not found any of them closed on arrival either. Not sure what you're looking at ?? Just crossed into Spain this afternoon. Finding somewhere to stop every night has been easy. Haven't used Camping Car Parks or 'proper' campsites at all. Many of the latter are closed.
