Out of date secondhand regulators on EBay

Bottle has the imageof regulator I shown attached in the gas locker, then a rubber pipe to small bore copper, then to bulk head with 3 taps, then copper on from there
Do you mean you have a regulator clipped onto the bottle which is attached a rubber gas hose that is then attached to a manifold with taps? If so then you don't have 2 regulators, just the one on the bottle and a manifold.

You wouldn't normally have 2 regulators (ie on bottle and bulkhead).

That's right. Gas bottle, regulator as in pic...rubber tube to copper...then copper to these taps..

looking at that diagram it is obviously designed so if the diaphram ruptures only a small amount of gas is expelled before the vent limiting device kicks in thereby failing to a safe situation

Interestingly we did have a quantity of older regulators that were brand new and boxed so never exposed to light or gas , it became apparent that while these were sold off cheaply the failure rate was extremely high, None were over 10 years old and yet they had obviously aged / deteriorated.
Am i right in thinking Do I need to check the date on the spare one I picked up in August, is it sat in the van slowly deteriorating even though its not been on the vehicle ?

No it will be fine for years as it will be a brand new one 👍

Only if the one he picked up in August was not sitting on the shelf or storage for years. He should best check the date on the regulator.

What the . . . . Fudge?? You've got a Safety Shut off tied down to not budge? Sort of defeating the purpose of stopping flow of gas in an emergency. Don't think the Insurance will be paying out if the safety shut off is defeated and a problem arises where it can't be shut off quickly.

But of course, could just be my newly attained German Mentality kicking in after living here for decades as a foreigner!

It looks to me like a valve feeding something that most likely isn't there anymore so the valve is fastened in the closed position and no doubt the pipe is capped off as well.
