Since Nov 2010 after 25 yrs under canvas.
It's been a very stressful few days. Had the handover on Friday but only able to drive it away yesterday as we had to wait for the DVLA.

We are now owners of a Carthago C Tourer I 138. First impressions are great, lovely space to live in. Drove into London Crystal Palace site from Portsmouth this morning, very comfortable and although wider than our Globecar Campscout had no real issues.

I think our biggest problem will be deciding where things belong. The storage is very different from a PVC.

That's a very smart looking vehicle.

......but thats one more of the Globecar fraternity lost to an A-class. It must be a natural progression.

Very nice. I wonder if the downsizing tide has turned.

Nice van, my mate had a C Tourer he's gone posh now and got an E-Line.
I can see from the internal pic you are having problems with storage.

At last ... I was beginning to think you'd never get 'Dido'!!! :giggle:

Tips on storage - I put a shelf in the wardrobe and use that as my pan store, also wup drainer, trays etc go in there which works a treat as they are always very accessible.and below are the shoes (in baskets so they don't jam the sliding door). The small upper locker above the sink has also had a shelf put in and the kettle goes on the top with the cups etc below. When I get a chance I'll do my website about it! In the meantime I'll drop you a PM about a secret place to put your small valuables etc which is easily accessible but totally hidden unless you are aware of it.

'dido'. ?

Dido was the warier queen of Carthage, also known by the Greeks as the Wanderer.

A bit of classical eduction for you.
Wow next thing you know I'll stop drinking out of the saucer!!!!!!

Good question. Early days! We have dumped everything from the old van in a rush.

Having said that we are not known for being tidy so it will probably look a bit like that most of the time.

Great van...hope the supplying dealer looked after you ;)...your registration number is nearly identical to ours!!!...

Yes, the dealer has been very good to us. Southdown Motorhomes. Excellent handover and really good help this morning after a few issues overnight (our ignorance).

As for the number, that is only for a few weeks. When we get back to the Isle of Man we will re register. The Manx number will be DMN 138 C

Are dealers offering really good deals on the comfortmatic now they have brought out the 9 speed torque converter transmission?

Our‘s was also originally from Southdown, but is older so “HX67” - we like it as we’re very close to Hexham, so it is kind of fitting!

Btw, your new Motorhome looks fab - I’m sure you’ll be very pleased! Have you given him/her a name yet?

Also, we’re going to be at the Crystal Palace C&MHC Site next week for the first time, so would be very interested to hear how you get on there! ?

See posts above - she's called 'Dido' ... :giggle:

I've just thought of something ... your MH is a girl, mine is a boy ... do you think if they meet we might be able to get them to breed???

Very happy!

Today I filled the van full with water (120 litres), full with diesel, all our usual holiday gear including the big Lafuma chairs which we have left at home for the last few years. Went to weighbridge, 3,712 kg. That means we have 538kg to spare!

Will not have any worries about buying wine etc.

Carthago certainly live up to their super lightweight name for this van.

Great stuff ... out of interest what was the weight on the rear axle? We've not loaded ours up and weighed it in full holiday trim since we had the semi-air put on as we didn't see the point as it was fairly loaded up before we did it, so with the addition of some food and water we knew we'd still have been under the 2240kg rear axle load but it would be interesting to know what your figures are.

PS ... you've still got a van conversion! :giggle:

Hi Mel

We didn't weigh the axles individually just the whole van. There is not much in the rear garage anyway.

That’s a lovely van, we are planning to move down to a 7 metre. We will consider the Carthago brand when the time comes.

7m is far too long for us. This van is 6.4m, I can park it is a supermarket car park, between the lines (just).
