Our first coach built

Wife's having a sort out and found this brochure of our first coach built, a
Pioneer on a mitsubishi L300 base.
We bought this new for £10,000 in 1983, with a trade in on our Leyland Sherpa pop up roof and the vat money from building our house.
We went from a vehicle that drove and felt more like a tractor to a vehicle that drove and felt like a car.

1983… I bet you could virtually park up anywhere…

I feel I’ve missed out on the best time to motorhome ….

Our first motorhome was the same model but it was on a Bedford CF we went all over Europe in the 80’s

We only went abroad in it once, spent five weeks starting in Spain then Andorra, France, Monaco, Italy and Switzerland before coming home.

My Dad had the van version back in the day, thing that I remember most was the column gearchange. I'm not a fan

Had a column change on a 1984 Hiace van and loved it.
I could push rolls of carpet up and across both passenger seats and still manage to change gear.

I liked the column change, we also had a van version for our sunbed business, chosen because of how nice the motorhome was to drive.

I wish you could still buy a motorhome built on a Japanese base vehicle.
