Operation Brock to continue until after the next Bank Holiday.

If this involves the M20, do not, I repeat, do not stop at junction 8 services (though very nice)
The junction will not allow you to get back onto the M 20, it sends you all the way back to the junction before and then back again.
pain in the bum.

Just be sure to factor in when using Kent ports etc. It will affect your travel.

Also last night travelling on Irish Ferries, web said “all on time” sat on the ferry over 1 hour before it sailed.
Was watching a tractor unit unloading and loading arctic trailers, now I understand why it took so long to load. ( poor chap doing it all , pull unit out, hop out lower legs, hop in unhook, hook up , hop out, lift legs, hop in , move trailer) for loads and loads!
Do miss the efficiency of travelling via P and O, and the comfort.

Think Irish ferries have shares in Euro tunnel!

Dover is a very efficient port in comparison with many. It's just a pity Dover has a rogue Ferry Operator taking up space alongside and creating problems for it's usually slick operation.

Travelling to Folkeston tomorrow for an afternoon shuttle. Assuming I won’t need to take diversions off the M20, just expecting some lane closures.

 I was under the impression that Brock was only a queuing/stacking arrangement for HGV's.

They should have nationalised the P&O boats the day after the sackings , retained the crews & charged it all to P&O after sequestraing all the assetts + every boardsmembers as well + their families.

It is .the M20 is a car park .

hi.
Perhaps there is a clause that although they can use the Port. ALL services are " Not provided" ie. Automatic artic mover/s. After all this Rogue Ferry operator ( Helping out...) is competition.Having said that, most Ferries have these units on board as standard.
The Plot.... thickens.
On the bright side,i didn't care WHO'S name was on the side,as long as i got fed well and arrived whatever end with dry feet and cargo intact.
Tea Bag. 🚛

It seem that the queues are only on the English side... And when they develop in France, they are a lot shorter.

The problem is that the lorries try to avoid the system and cause chaos throughout Kent.

Came through this morning at jct 8 you go on to the opposite side of the m20 for about 12 miles but it was totally empty went from epping to the tunnel on 90 mins

No the cross channel lorries have to stay in the left hand lane after junction 8.
The other vehicles ( lorries non channel crossings) go onto the contraflow so two lanes restricted to 50 ish.
This does take you along before the right hand lane contraflow rejoins you both on the left side up the hill to Dover.
Dropping down to Dover arctic traffic revert to the left hand side of the carriage way.
At the roundabout at the end of the M20 traffic lights for each lane, left for lorries right for other, and onto the mayhem of Dover port!

Good job I’m not doing the ferry then! Presumably the slip road to Eurotunnel is open?

Operation Brock is only effecting the south side of the m20 for a short distance, and when we passed in the other direction on monday there wasn’t a single lorry in it, just loads of traffic cones. The cars swap to the opposite (north) side of the motorway so both north and south have only two lanes, and reduced to 50mph.

I can concur!! Came off tunnel today, millions of cones, very little traffic and definitely no queuing HGV’s.

I trust when and if P&O get back in service with there very aging and creeking fleet,no emergency ensures.
Good luck how quickly the fate of our labour force is forgotten, and does it not show how the working person is from now on going to be treated in the UK.
May not be you this week, but when it is will anyone care. Seems unlikely given short memories.

Not sure about ageing fleet Dover to Calais, I did think the had 2 new ships only a few years ago, or am I just getting older.

The p and o ships were a lot more comfortable than the Irish ferry we sailed on.

But as said a means to an end to cross the channel the most cost effective way for us.

It's not like a ten day cruise as one only has to put up with it for 90 minutes.

I once asked a stewardess on one of my regular commuting flights from Gatwick to Paris why on earth they felt it necessary to serve drinks and nibbles, as if folk can't survive for an hour without them. She replied: "It's for our benefit as it keeps people in their seats".
