From 6am tomorrow, Monday 28/10, Operation Brock will be in full operation both east and west bound on the M20 between junc 8 and 10. Means it will be 50mph, two lanes only both ways. Just been on local news.

Has been like this west bound for months and it would appear someone, somewhere has decided they are going to need somewhere to park stacks of trucks. I wonder why?

Keep this in mind if you're planning to head to ferries or ET folks :)

I've just driven up the A2/M2

The overhead gantries have been telling us the parallel M20 is already closed between J7 and J9 (Maidstone to Ashford)

Considering the time of night, A LOT of traffic heading to the coast on the A2/M2
I can only presume they have directed that way from the M25

What's wrong with this country, the best way to keep traffic running is shut lanes on a motorway  :doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::Eeek:
Don't worry we won't need the lorries after brexit, we will only be trading with someone or other.

This turned into a nightmare for people going to work this morning as they over ran putting out 7500 cones! Here's the plan:

It only affects goods traffic.

It`s immaterial really. But what penalties are there for deciding to use your own route?. Just curious?.

Ferry tickets.
If you turn up at the port without a queue ticket you will not be entering the port.

It means that a theoretical haulage company based right outside the gates of Dover Docks would have to send their trucks 70 miles up the M20 to the M25 to join the back of the queue to come back down the M20.

A day or two later they would be right back where they started.

Whilst it's freight that will take it on the chin initially, we wont be far behind.

French Traffic Police are absolutely within their rights to check each and every vehicle to ensure they are up to the minimum spec to drive within the EU.

(Those countries in Eastern Europe have been blocking access from Turkish coaches, Russian lorries and Ukrainian cars for years. Now it's our turn)

Weigh every Motorhome.
Are front beam deflectors fitted ?
Two warning Triangles ?
Rear Cycle carrier ? Don't bother if it's one of those strap on ones!
GB plate ?
Hi Viz vest for every seat (not every passenger!) ?

Anyone not complying will not be able to exit Calais port.

How many hours before the ships have to stop running as the port can not take any more vehicles ?

Still that is what 51% of the people voted for, so I guess it's what they want.

Just the same as Portsmouth reducing speed limit in to port from 60 to 40 to "ease the congestion"

As below. Sent back to the start.Same as under operation stack.

Best way to sort it would just be for them to refuse to move & block it all off.
At the end of the day if you move x amount per day & will be unable to move that amount for a prolonged period then nothing they do /have done/will do / will stop a complete bottleneck in a few hours

Not sure where that info comes from but it is not so. I have lived in Bulgaria for almost 15 years and can assure you that our roads are completely open to all foreign vehicles, we have regular bus and tourist coaches transiting from Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, even Moldova, HGVs from everywhere including Asian states are common here too. We see other vehicles from non EU states on our roads on daily basis including Chinese campers in summer season. If you are considering visiting or transiting Eastern Europe just ensure that all of your personal and vehicle documents are in order and you will enjoy a warm welcome here, just don't try to buck the system, it really is not worth it !

Sorry, should have added 'unroadworthy' (or 'illegal' perhaps)Turkish coaches, Russian lorries etc .....

The French (quite rightly) will just be doing what the Bulgarians have been doing for years.
Ensuring that vehicles that do not meet EU standards do not get into the EU.

It does not make the EU any less open, just ensures that vehicles that may 'get away' with rules in one country don't get away with it in another.

If the French wish to be pedantic, they can block up the ports within a few hours. One vehicle without a GB sticker of the regulation size on the back means it wont be leaving the port.

My Plod (traffic) is going to be busy, signing all the Tacho`s. ( I suppose with the electronic ones that came in after I Retired, they have to be overridden and Re coded by a traffic officer?). Otherwise the drivers hours are going to be all over the place. (move 2 truck lengths, shutdown, turn over, go back to sleep) repeat every few Min`?. after 9hrs, Take 9hrs "off". Repeat for several thousand trucks?.

Do what I do, have done & will continue to do when faced with it. Comply. Exactly where they ask.Nowhere else, no "just park over there" here that's where we are doing it blocking the whole queue/toll booth /hard shoulder . Then keep it all blocked whilst you reload,/repack & have a tea break take the dog for a walk.(y)

Reminds me of the Time, I pulled into the Toll Booth on the Humber bridge, The `head in the booth. £13-00. Me no £10-00. `head in booth, you have 3 axles. Me, No I have 2 the light up there (in the cab) tells me the 3rd axle is raised. `head in booth. I can see 3. At this point, I turn the engine off, and reach for the phone. What are you doing the `head asks?. Ringing gaffer I say. If he says you can have the other £3-00, thats OK with me!. Pause, intake of breath, Ok,, bugger off says the`head. Wonder how many times he got away with an extra £3-00 in his pocket?. All in all a Stuffed the booth for a good 20min.!
