id agree- with most valves you line the "switch" with the flow of the pipe

Why? The gas comes into the manifold from the side then goes off to each appliance in the direction of flow.

Yes, it fooled me (I know, I know ...) on our first outing and was the first of many Anglo Saxon outbursts. But then the gas lit, the kettle boiled, and we had our first cup of coffee in Brunhilde ...(y):giggle:

The feeds go out the bottom of the valve and as such the valve has to be on the downpipe as if it wasn't the gas would not flow to any outlet if the first valve was turned of therefore the arrow shows the flow of gas out (and in of course) to the vertical (supply out) pipe.
