How do old threads get resurrected? Started to read a thread just now and found it had been started in 2010 ! Suddenly tonight people are posting on it. I can understand if they are searching for info and it gets brought up but this one was about nation wide building soc in spain. What re instigated that ?

I think people look for something in the search engine but don't look at the last date of posting and reply to it.

I have been guilty of offering helpful advice to really old threads, but not actually reopening them
something that often gives them away are names in red or black, for banned or read only members, or names you have not noticed before but with several messages and likes to their name
as for why they restart, who knows, dave and san are pretty much on the money I reckon
