Hey everyone

Brand new MH'er here, ready to collect her a week today.. eek

We are looking for some off grid help please, in terms of power and WiFi

We do have fixed solar, but no idea how powerful or any other details other than, it likes the sun 🌞 my knowledge stops there!

Can you kindly advise the cheapest buy adequate power banks (akin to jackary like items) and WiFi too, please...ideally, unlimited data to hook up to a firestick or mobile or laptop

Thank you - keep safe in the sun

Do not waste your money on any power banks, just add extra leisure batteries that will charge when you drive or from your solar when it's daytime.

I think you asked this yesterday ?
Have you been able to establish what solar and battery setup you already have ? As I said, if you can take photos, knowledgeable people on here will be able to advise you.
As for wifi, most use a mifi device with the best deal sim they can find at the time.
A lot depends if your on UK only or eu where most providers set fair deal data use limits
If you do a search there's lots of info.

Hi Figaro
I did yes, however when I go to load the thread it comes with a broken link, so I assumed it had been removed?
I will take a gander at the mifi and once we have our MH on Fri, I will take some pics and details of the solar and leisure battery
Thank you so much

Just returned from a 5 week trip around Brittany and just wanted to share my experience using a Power Bank (in my case the Allpower) To be fair things have changed quite a lot since we started Motorhome touring in Europe. There are far more Aires that offer EHU than a few years ago so the need for solar/Inverters/extra batteries etc. has diminished. That said in these challenging times cost/space and weight are key.
I bought the Allpowers Battery bank just over a year ago and have found it invaluable. First of all its useful when on the move as we can have a "proper coffee" etc. Secondly we can re-charge the Power bank via 12 volt cigarette charger while on the move. It will last us around 4 to 5 days while on a non EHU Aire using 240 volts as if we were on EHU allowing to have coffee, surf the Internet, charge kindles, laptops, phones and tablets. We were not dependant upon Solar, didn't have additional leisure batteries (mainly because we don't have the room to fit them). Not a single hickup and (depending who you listen to) with the propect of power cuts over the winter I can simply lift it up and take it indoors to power the freezer and provide lighting. Much simpler than the expence of fitting extra batteries, inverters or even Efoy systems. I'd still go for solar as these rechange the leisure batteries - something the Power bank wouldn't do efficiently.

We have an Allpowers 372wh power bank and get on well with it. What model do you have out of interest?👍

The one we bought unsurprisingly isn't made anymore and has been updated. I guess the nearest equivalent would be the 700wh. It was discounted on Amazon from around £500 and we got it for £329

Power packs tend to get the raspberry on here. I have one though (ecoflow) and find it useful as I have limited need for 230v and no obvious place for extra batteries. Probably not the cheapest solution but I did get a large discount and it can also drive my hedge trimmer at home etc.
The ecoflow just sits in my motorhome garage wired to a single socket in the hab area and charges off 12v or mains as available

I think the reason power banks get the raspberry is because £ for £, additional leisure battery's and solar are a better option for MOST scenarios. Someone will always think of reasons why A is better than B but in the end, if the ability to use power in different locations than the motorhome is THE important factor, then a powerbank is prob the best option.
