Lots of scams on eBay . Sometimes the prices are just low enough to fool people and they pay before they even see the vehicle ☹️

There is a spat of it. I keep finding my stock on there. They even copy my photos and descriptions then half the price....
I guess they try and scam the best selling high ticket “ emotional purchases “ so that people get suckered in . Some days there seems to be more scams than genuine stock ☹️

Life advise here people........
Never do a buy it now on a Motorhome that's 2 years old and £30,000 less than any others...
We have already spotted all of ours and reported and got them removed.

Just a thought. If someone clones an ad of one of my vans at half the price and some fool buys it, am I still expected to do the hand over and the warranty work!

It's dreadful.
Robert likes to browse 'man things' of course including MH's, we have both reported these two, so hopefully they won't be there long.

When they clone photos it can't be that hard for e bay to run comparisons to spot them surely?

I buy and sell guitars occasionally. I have noticed recently a spate of Reasonably expensive guitars being advertised wIth “photos coming soon”.
the photos never appear, but the guitars always seem to sell. I don’t know anyone who would shell out best part of a grand on a guitar without even seeing a picture of it.
i wonder if its some money laundering scam?

No but you could buy them off eBay for half the price and then put them on your forecourt at twice the price! Easy money 😂

me thinks the scammers could learn something from this thread ;)

What's the latin for "if something looks too good to be true, it probably is"?

(Si aliquid spectat quoque ad bonum et verum sit, verisimile est)

Rip off Britain this morning!Woman who had been scammed out of £4500 for a motorhome given her money back by her bank!which is good news but you have to ask why people buy “ bargain”vans! If it’s too good to be true!

One way to hopefully prevent your own higher value goods being used as scams is to put watermark of your ebay user id on all your photos right across the centre, that way they can't easily be used by anyone else without those viewing the scam ads realising that the photos aren't the scammers ones.

We know it's too good to be true but I'm inclined to think that they are mainly first time or naïve purchasers who don't realise that the price is such a bargain.

Not directly related but I had my ebay account hacked recently. The hacker, from somewhere in the southern US, Georgia I think, bought hundreds of items in my name. It was a nightmare to sort, I fortunately had 2 step verification set up on my paypal account so he couldn't actually pay for anything that he bought. What he/she got out of it I have no idea but I had some pretty angry sellers contacting me for a few weeks!

Must take him ages driving around all those different locations just to photo the vehicles for sale.
Anyway I just bought all three T5's, just waiting for his cousin George to finish cleaning my bank account (there was a pigeon inside)

Hello, just wanted to say thanks for this post. I was interested in the t4 camper he had listed but it started seeming too cheap. When I asked them if I could send someone round for an rac vehicle check and received this reply I started doubting it

"It has to go due to lack of use, there are no hidden issues. No rust signs. Traveling is not safe and the routes for transport are open and available during the lockdown. There are only 2 ways to do this sale:

* The first option is to use a transport company that deals with the transaction, van and money as escrow. I travel for my work and I do not have time to bring the van and I think your free time is limited too, so this is the perfect way to make things easier, fast and safe for both of us. I will pay the company, so you will not pay extra money then the van price. You will get the van to your home address, and you can check the van before making the final decision. I think this is the perfect way for us.

* The second option is by using PayPal pay after delivery service: https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/pay-after-delivery-terms

Please let me know how you want to continue with this transaction and I will provide more details"

Hi and welcome to the fun house. :giggle:

I'm glad this has helped you and stopped you being 'caught' by these scammers.

That's just one of typical lies that eBay scammers have been using for donkey's years.
I've seen: .....I'm working abroad, ...or lorry driving, ...or working on an oil rig, ...or in the Navy, ...or have broken my leg, or away looking after my sick sister in Orkney.............or some other such nonsense.
