Any recommendations for an affordable OBD2 reader which will read soot levels in a Nissan Navara D40 DPF ?

For 12 years, we've been towing our 5ver with a Navara D40 Adventura, Auto, 171bhp.
She's been over the Pyrenees 6 times now with no faults and that's a hell of a looooooooong, hot climb!
Recently, we've been getting DPF warning lights, even on long motorway runs towing when the exhaust should be hot enough to burn things off. (joke of a system!!! They fit a filter to catch the soot and then the only way you can clean it is to take it for a blast up the motorway and blow all that cr*p out into the atmosphere anyway?)
Last long run, towing from Scotland to South Lakes, M6 over Shap, we got 5 illuminations, all of which went out after just a few miles. Usually came on at the top of a hill climb and then too quickly (IMHO) went out again?
I'm leaning towards at dodgy sensor (no fault codes or MIL light events stored using my cheepo Memoscan U581).
Being able to read ACTUAL live soot levels might narrow things down. Is it REALLY blocking or is a sensor failing?
Currently just got an icarsoft JP V2.0 (£135) but in discussions with supplier/manufacturer as that doesn't seem to be able to read soot levels from the DPF either! 116 options to read but not the one I actually need! So much for me asking specific questions before buying!

Give icarsoft a chance to update, I had problems with a Range Rover, told them, a few weeks later they had an up date to download and job done.

I haven’t got, yet, but have been recommended this by someone in the trade. May be worth having a look at what it can do. Apparently fantastic for its cost, but isn’t cheap.

Update done. it's the first thing they say you should do with a new unit before you plug it in.

Again, I'd have to ask the question first, will it read soot levels? Many of them say they will do a regen, mine does, but that's no what I'm after. Soot level reading will tell me, does it NEED a regen?(y)

Yes. Hence me comment “look at what it can do“.
No machine will do everything on every vehicle, and you would be lucky to find someone who can tell you a machine, that can do soot levels, on a particular vehicle especially when the forum isn’t based on that vehicle.
I would recommended sending the seller of the scanner an email asking if it will do what you require, then based on their response buy or not, and at least that way if it doesn’t do what you require the scanner can be returned

I cant help with advice on a tool that will read the live soit levels , but the folling thought comes to mind..
The only way I'm suspecting it can read a soot level is to use the sensors that give the pressure differential across the filter...
If the sensor is faulty anyway that's the reading the tool will use to estimate a blockage..so a bit meaningless..
It might be better to just force a regen if it's possible and see if it stops the fault appearing... or get someone with a scope to look at the sensor traces and compare with known good working ones..
Andy..

Those of us in the Volkswagen world use VCDS or similar. Anyone reading this with a modern VW may like to look at this thread, there are experts out there that speak a different language to many of us when it comes to investigating these problems.
