Now it's American Owned, Will Hymer lose it's identity?

I still think of my beloved Lanny as a "British" motor, lots of changes though in recent years, many for the worse. Would those changes have been made by English owners? It's been owned by Germans, yanks and now Indians. But to me it's still British.

Will we ever consider Auto-Trails to be French? Never . So why am I already thinking that Hymers are American

Hi ya Jim,I personally can’t see Thor changing any thing drastic with Hymer ,I mean why would they ,with massive annual sales and a great product ,why change if it’s not broken.If they start to cut manufacturing corners then I’m sure that will be their demise in the European market and I can’t see that happening.As for the slide outs Eddie I don’t think we will have to wait too long too see that ,but I could be wrong ,it’s only what I’ve heard.I just hope that in a few years time we will not see a load of HymerBago,s on the road

Good luck with that ! They have very innovative and high spec offerings of their own , with massive manufacturers

Main change with Cadbury is that I paid more tax last year than they did on £185 million profit.

I think if you consider long-term brands, such as Land Rover, Kellogs, CocaCola and the way that different ages / generations align with them - think of your dads view on Land Rover to Victoria Bekham's the Hymer brand will have a standing for at least the next 30 years before the next MoHo community look at them differently - based on those advertising chaps......

What worries me about Americans taking over foreign Companies from my experience is they have this idea " we know best" instead of listening to others, I was concerned years ago being a Fleet Engineer for a Brewery about the warranty claims against Bedford Trucks For rear crankshaft oil leaks, vehicles were going back and 2 and 3 times for same thing , I gathered statistics from major Breweries about their claims which amounted to over £5 million , armed with this info, I approached Bedford an asked why they did not retool and put a silacone seal on instead of an old fashion rope seal, Bedford said it was too expensive to retool it would cost £1 million and they had looked at it, I then told them the cost of claims for just Breweries was £5 million, a Year later they retooled, cured oil leaks.
My mate worked for ICI , then PPL part of paints division ,he said Americans the put In new computer system which was years behind theirs (and was not done so it linked up to a Global system ) . One of my sons has a Americam Director !!

You may be right there Jim ,I guess it’s a case of watch this space ,if Me & Jo go to a Rally next year and we are flying the Stars and Stripes and the Confederate flag you will know we have jumped ship again

Nah we can forget all that manufacturing nonsense I think tourism is our only chance to prosper Larry, with global warming the Med will become a wasteland during the summer while the UK will become a sort after place for summer sun holidays....

That might well be true. But given the diesel emissions situation and the push towards electric hybrids, the historic internal combustion manufacturers might do a 'Kodak' when digital photography technology advanced far faster than anticipated and put the big boy on the block facing receivership.

I think we are along way off getting rid of Diesel Engines what's the alterative ? like spending 6 hours and 3 stops trying to get from say Essex to Scotland (that's what a Rep. pointed out to me ) I am not saying won't happen in the future , but if I buying a new Motorhome I would not be too worried.
