Title says it all really, heading to Germany begining of September and a detour is required. Bugger!

As we understand it, as long as you don't stop & get in/out of your vehicle, and no one else gets in (ie you transit straight through to Germany), then that is "deemed" to be safe. Similarly, if you're in Germany & you return home via the channel tunnel, provided you don't stop in any of the ",naughty," countries (including France, if it's on the naughty step at the time), then you don't need to quarantine on your return to the UK.

That's our understanding - maybe not everyone's? 🤣

For info, we paid 1.029 litre diesel yesterday at Globus at Saarlouis, so still s good price even if you can't stop to fill up in Luxembourg. We understand that diesel is only a cent or two under a euro in Luxembourg

I had planned to spend a day at the Waterloo battle site and brim with cheao fuel in Luxembourg. Hopefully, do this on way home early October unless thete is change.

BBC news item recently, the "travel expert" Simon thingymanob. Stated if you were only "in transit" and had no contact it was not a requirement to isolate. If you need fuel and use a pay at the pump that's ok. If you go into the shop and pay then that qualifies for isolation.
May be worth re-checking on the requirements. 👍

We are off to Germany this coming Wednesday via Harwich to the Hook of Holland, taking the night boat, with a cabin so social distancing should be easy. Have not booked a return, we will assess the situation when we decide to come home.

That's our understanding, and for us, certainly doable from Germany to the Tunnel

Phil, as I understand it if you went to Belgium for 3 days then Luxembourg for 2 days, then onto Germany for 21 days and came straight home you wouldn’t have to Q14 as it’s been more than 14 days since you was in Luxmbourg! Hope that makes sense

I'm sure you could go 100 yards into Luxemburg at Remich and fill up - no one would know.
Waterloos not much and surprisingly its seems Napoleon won that one.

what a perfect excuse to use the app force downloaded to your phone to track your last 14 days of movements

3 hours 8 minutes from tunnel to border at Aachen which has a stellplatz and a cathedral that is in the top 100 tourist sites of Germany.
Perhaps all the late August September travellers ought to have a rolling meet there like the moselle one at Reil
I also found a volcanic lake around there somewhere when checking earlier with bubbling water !

When you going PhilandMena just so I can give the border force the heads up on your return 😉

Would that be Stellplatz Bad Aachen, Branderhof Weg 11, 52066 Aachen
N50.76165. E6.10259
17 euros per night

Nonsense isn't it? key pad will be the same as a McD's touch screen probably even with the faeces. çHow it can be classed as exempt defies belief.
As to the OP if you are going on the way out why worry.? you'l be more than 14 days & even if you aren't onec out of the banned country the clock starts counting so if you went in 1st day on to germany etc & back all the days after Luxembourg count as 'out' & come off the 14.

I wouldnt know !!!
I have been reduced to googling on googlemaps and i put in camping car having zoomed into an area.
I can see 3 with no info.
Now if i hadnt given WESTY66 18,000 places to park on maps.me my maps.me would be working. But it aint. And i m struggling to re download it.
Then I would be able to tell you, but in the meantime, I m stuffed.
WOnt be for long though - i just need someone technically minded on phones !
The POIs are are saved so its no great stress

Nobody can check how long you have been in each country - no border checks.
I'm not looking to cheat the system ! The rules are there to protect people? Well that's the way I see it !

Just stuck your co ords in and that is the most apt one.
Maastrict marina is also available right on the belgian border but in Germany. No idea on costs but WESTY66 could look it up in a jiffy !!!!

Thanks for this, it makes sense! I wonder if any boarder controls will be in place when crossing into and out of Belgium & Luxembourg ? I guess I will find out soon enough !

Do you Know?. I get the same problem in the bath?.
My butler, Wibble (who happens to be deaf) came up while i was in the bath the other night with hot water bottle for me.
He swore i said "What about a water bubble Wibble?"

They’ll be no border controls. The Belgium and Luxembourg thing is a UK rule.
