Hi everyone

I've just booked in to camp for the Le Mans 24 Hour Race in June 2015.

We are on about catching a ferry to St Malo the Saturday before, and find somewhere to chill out in the sun, do some exploring, have a few beers and some good food for a few days before Le Mans.

Can anyone recommend any lovely areas to stop within 3 hours drive of Le Mans in the North West of France?

Criteria:

Site must be within walking distance of a town (say 20 mins max)
Preferably a seaside/lakeside/riverside location
Showers and toilets on site a must (I've got a T5 Camper with neither on board)

Thanks for your help :)

Ferry to North coast of Spain? Then driving East, over border into France? Driving up Frances Western coast you'll find loads of campsites. The ACSI book will help but as it's still school term time you'd be able to stop at any of them. You can always ask to look at facilities before you book and pay.
You could travel from Bayonne up to Bicarosse and Arcachon, then round Bordeaux ( trams available into the city but not sure you can park a motorhome at any of the tram station car parks)
Then north via Saintes or Cognac. Carry on in generally NE to Le Mans.
Alternatively if you've plenty of time, go west to coast, then cut North East at about Nantes.

Nice site 30 mins drive north of Le Mans in a small town by the river. Google Beaumont sur Sarthe, municipal! Very clean toilet facilities and shopping a two min walk, cheap petrol in the supermarket.
