I ordered a new, full-priced chemical toilet from a well known camping supplier but when I lifted it out of the box it didn’t look new.

I contacted the supplier and asked for a replacement that was not damaged. They told me there was no point them offering me another as any replacement would only arrive from the manufacturer in the same condition. They didn’t quibble about collecting the return and refunded me without delay. However, I thought it was unfair that they blamed the manufacturer so I dropped Outwell an email. I have today received this reply which astonished me :

Dear .....
I went to the warehouse in relation to another product question for this toilet 10L.
I found the exact same scratches to a fully new product here and must admit that the advise you had from the retailer is completely correct.
These scratches are a result of the production process. Please see attached.
I am afraid purchasing from a different retailer will not help.
Best regards

That is utterly disgraceful, I would be putting this out on social media about this and not buy any other Outwell products. Doubt if it will make much difference as they probably can't meet the demand for camping products just now.

I think they need to change their production process.
Yep, probably starting with clearing all the swarf and screws that are scattered about on their assembly benches.

That’s been kicked around a showroom or factory....

Is the photo of the base of the toilet?

Ian

If it's the base, is it really such a big deal? I mean, unless you are only going to place it down on eiderdown when in use, it's going to get scratched up in no time??

I had a new outwell toilet delivered a couple of days ago there were no scratches on the base. Perhaps from a different production line ?

If they are selling ok why would they change their practices. As long as the money is coming in then they must be doing it right.

I would send it back, like anything new I would want to be the first one to put a scratch on something I had bought............unless a discount is offered ;-)

But then that's just the way I roll.

My Roles Royce came scratched. So I sent it back for a full refund which I got. They sent me a Fiat 500 as an apology FOC 😂😂
