eight years in theory, a newby in practice!!!
Having drove up and down the A82 on Loch Lomond many times in my lorry I understand some funsters hesitation about driving the 6 or 7 mile stretch above Tarbet which is narrow with many tight bends, overhangs and HGVs and tour coaches coming around the corners in the middle of the road.
Watch this video, the A82 will be a 'walk in the park'. You'll wonder what all the fuss was about! :giggler:

What are you doing coming to Scotland if the A82 gives you cause for concern.... Bejesus it is like the M6/74 you have just left compared to what awaits you further north. Wee Wiggly Tinny roads wi bits you HAVE to stop in to let aforementioned HGV's and coaches (oh and not to mention the moho hire brigade) past.👿👿👿

Done that road, luckily it was very misty so you couldn't see down the gorge and it was early morning so very little traffic, must go back to the Vecors region.

No gorge. Drystane dykes and trees aplenty though.

I love Scotland and have driven just about every road , but like OP I hate that bit of road above Tarbet and won’t use it

give me teeny weeny single track roads with passing places any day before that bit of the A82 👍

The problem with that stretch is it’s an A road and people on it try to treat it like one. I’d rather drive single track with passing places any day. Everyone knows what to expect there. There are sections of the A82 where there is just not room for passing an hgv or bus or crawling past with wing mirrors turned in. The people behind blowing their horns when you have to stop sometimes is what really annoys me.
