Woke up on Christmas morning to find all the lights were off on the fridge. Luckily it was cold and snowing outside so not an immediate problem, but now we are home I want to get it fixed. It's a Dometic RMS 8401 and it has one of those horrible squidgy control panels, similar to the one pictured in another thread. I've checked fuses but can't do much more as it's pissing down outside and we are away for New Year as well, so I don't want to extract it.

I can see some connectors through the bottom external cover but not a lot more.

Any advice?

Depending where you fridge is, you maybe able to get to the top of it, (may involve removing a panel) but then you can get to the wiring to check it out.

Sounds like it's not getting the 12v supply that powers the electronics. On the back of the fridge there will be two 12v feeds one on thick cables supplying the heating element and one with small cables supplying the electronics.
Check on the back of the fridge the supply to the electronics is present its normally supplied via a 2 amp fuse. If that is there it could be a faulty control panel or the black module which distributes the power and does the ignition, on the back of the fridge they are known for failing.

Same problem same dometic fridge but in a caravan.
I had to renew it with what turned out to be a cheaper fridge but seemed much better .
changed it for a Thetford fridge.

but try all the fuses you can find first. could Be a simple fix.

mine I was told everything worked the last time it was used. That may well have been true.
but not when we got it

The service manual for the Dometic 8xxx series are in the resources section.....

It is a .pdf file so you will need a .pdf reader on your tablet/pc/phone.

Good Luck
