Does anyone using a 522 or similar, use a different card to the ones Nextbase recommend with success please?

The price difference is quite amazing.

Used various brands including SanDisk, Samsung, etc.
Just go for a decent brand name from a reputable supplier.

They recommend their own branded items, but then they would wouldn't they..

..but they're asking £63 for a 128GB card, when I can get a Samsung class 10 U3 for £16.

Does your unit work ok with a 'normal' card?

Works fine .... I don’t think my card is 128gb more like 32 or 64

Brief but accurate was dunnah01 ’s advice in #2

Sandisk have cornered the market but Kingston are also popular.
Then other brands can be good, like Sony, Samsung and PNY
Class 10 means the storage should achieve certain transfer speeds, etc.
Some info on Class Here

I tend to go for a max size of 32g... Reason being I am not interested in seeing where I have been, only interested in footage of stuff that protects me from false claims agin me and god forbid an accident

Just asking as an update on the Samsung Class 10 U3 you used - did you have any problems with them and did/do they perform well ?

It will appear to work then yofi d the important video clip you really need has not been saved.
I gave up with Nextbase, decided they were a pile of poo, got a 512w sitting in a draw somewhere.
Gone back to a KB cheaper and far more reliable.

I've been using a Samsung 128 EVO Plus since buying my Nextbase 522 GW (last year).

Have driven to Portugal and back doing several thousand miles in my car, and also used it in the Moho. It works perfectly.

I'm very pleased with the camera, it works exactly as it should and I have some good still shots too.

It also saves any clip if there's a sudden jolt, or if you press the 'save' button.

Have you guys been through all the save files to make sure there are none missing? Checking each file follows on in time order.

No files missing here Lenny, I did have to turn the 'G Shock' settings off in my car, it has very firm suspension and the camera kept saving files in the 'Protected' folder.

No issues in the Moho though.

Do you check the files every day as I found it would miss bits occasionaly every few weeks even if I reformatted the card every day.

No I don't check every day, only when I'm looking for something in particular.

With such a large memory card I format it about once a month or so depending on mileage.

128Gb Samsung or Sandisk for our Nextbase.
Got about 5 \ 6 years worth of travel data stored (yeh, I know!) and yet to find any missing or corrupted files.
You need to be careful though as Sandisk are, probably, the most faked sd card so always buy from a reputable supplier.

Following on from previous post I just copied some recent files from the dashcam sd card onto the back-up drive and noticed that one file seemed to missing.
On further looking it was just listed out of order to the previous and follow files.
Now, I had previously noticed the file names are made up of
  • six numbers (the date)
  • six numbers (which I thought was the time)
  • 3 numbers (which is the file order)
It would appear from the latest batch of files that the second is not the time but no idea what it is!

Thanks for the recent replies.
I had used a Kingston Class 10 U1 (this was the card that worked okay in my previous Mobius camera) in the new Nextbase camera but it kept missing parts of the video.
I've now fitted a Samsung Evo plus 128gb U3 and the few hours of clips that it's recorded are very good with no missing clips.

I was checking my Nextbase Dashcam after a trip and noticed quite a few missing files. SanDisc card. After some research, I dug deep in my pocket and bought a Nextbase SD card. Since then, I haven't noticed any missing files, though I do re-format the card occasionally.

As you may know the issue will be the U1 card not being able to "keep up" with the output from the camera hardware hence it dropping parts of the recording.
We always use U3 cards and never had a problem.
