Is it possible (and recommended?) to stay overnight at the Newhaven terminal for an early morning crossing please? Or can anyone recommend a nearby site?

Yes. Can confirm all the above about the terminal parking. Have often stopped in the 'pickup' parking on the right (facing the terminal building) or in the section between the checkin lanes and the lorry parking opposite. NOT actually in with the lorries. This is where ferry staff will recommend. You'll get a good nights sleep after the evening sailing and a free wake up from the trucks. We have also stayed there when returning to the UK on the early evening sailing from Dieppe, as we have a drive back to the Midlands. Is it possible (and recommended?) to stay overnight at the Newhaven terminal for an early morning crossing please? This is a pic (taken from the ferry) of the Hope Inn, 10 mins drive from the ferry quay. It's on the harbour West Quay. In order to get from there to the ferry you have to cross the swing bridge which when open can close the road for half an hour. There's a notice at the bridge with opening times which vary according to the tides.Go the Hope Inn about 2mls away, stopped there overnight a few times now. Good location just check in with the landlord.
