Newhaven Dieppe Ferry - steep entry ramps?

I'm a real novice about to pick up our first MH and I'm planning a trip the UK from Spain. I'm wondering about using a ferry rather than the tunnel but I'm concerned about horror stories I've heard of people ripping rear sections off their motorhome as they embark or disembark the ferry. Should I be worried? Any tips how best get round this? Thanks.

We came Newhaven to Dieppe we have a long rear overhang o problem’s just drive on slowly.

nearly always use Newhaven no problems, it's only on small inter-island ferries you get problems.
