Well we had our first trip out in hettie our 1993 hymer b694 at the weekend... A pub stop near Gloucester and had a lovely time..... Today I went to empty the cassette and it wasn't good... It was covered in wee and it was pooled under the cassette as well... There are no cracks in the cassette but it does look as if it's coming from on top... Is there a seal between the toilet and cassette?.. Can it be changed?

Are you using the toilet with blade open or shut? Should be open for use.

How full was cassette on emptying? Was it over full?

The seal that seals between toilet bowl and cassette is the one on the top of the cassette around the blade hole. Often under sliding cover.

It wasn't 1/4 full so it wasn't overflowing.. And we were using it it with the blade open.... But my wife said she couldn't open it all the way... I had no trouble opening it all the way... Could it be usint it half open?

Just wondering if your wife is opening it once sat down, doesn't always work best to open first.

For 7 years now I’ve been doing No1’s with blade shut then opening when flushing and No2’s with blade open!🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
Never had any kind of leak AT ALL

Have I been doing it all wrong for 7 years🤷‍♂️🤔😁😁😁

You could try silicon grease first. The cassette will/should come apart and the blade part removed. You may have to rotate it although different makes will vary.

Once you've accessed the rubber bits give them a good dash of silicon grease, not forgetting any metal rods there may be under the handle you pull to open the flap

If this doesn't cure it I'm afraid new rubber stuff may be needed. They aren't cheap but if needs must ...

We want a spare cassette so we might get a fresh up kit

Just clean all the moving parts and check and replace the seals if cracked or damaged and give them a coat of silicone grease.ensure the blade opens fully before use.

I had a Hymer with a Thetford C400 toilet and the cassette never fitted properly. I tried changing the seal but it still leaked between the bowl and the cassette. The only solution was to put small wedges under the cassette to push it up so that the seal made proper contact with the bowl. The enclosure was a loose fit.

I can’t be doing with the fan whirrring away, it puts me off🤷‍♂️🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Some actually like the sound of the fan drumming away while they ponder their thoughts, or the vibration coming up through the seat lol

Same here - No 1's blade closed. No issues.

Us too 18 years both of us having a wee with the blade closed, never a leak. If you’re having a really big wee then I think I’d wear the sog fan out by having it open.
