Parking up for a day or two is not usually too much of a problem and there are things like BritStops which are worth looking into. Anymore than a night and you are best finding a site of some type. (My opinion only). A lot will depend on what you are looking for and where you want to be.

Sites vary a great deal in both price and facilities - it all depends on what you want and expect.

I think most places will not allow a stay of over 27 nights (I might be wrong about the length of time but someone who really knows will correct this) as then you are classed as resident and may become liable for council tax on your vehicle.
