"Funsters" DashCam arrived, what is the best card to use? It says use Micro SDHC card Class 6 or above. There so many different ones on the web. I understand 16gb would be ideal. Which should I use?

Took a while for me to set it up (The old story! Real men don't do instructions!!!)
In the end Maureen read the instructions piece meal and I pushed the right bits
Got it working O K , not using the split screen (can't stand the sight of the miserable bugger behind the wheel!) but got the other one,( When you to get to it select the channel 1 option)

I use an 8 gig card because I had one laying about .. remember, the unit is really there in case of an accident, so you only actually NEED maybe a 4 gig card..
It depends on how much of the journey you want to record.. me.. I only need a few minutes if there is an accident !!

If you want to watch hours of a journey then a bigger card is errrr.. on the cards LOL !!!!

Mine arrived today also... Thx Jaws..
All good.. Just need to sort out a permanent power supply for it now.. Anyone else done this? I was initially thinking curtesy light but now think that the cig lighter circuit may be a better one?

You want it to come on when you start the engine, so the cigar lighter is probably best. I would put a wee fuse in there as well. The supply to the cigar lighter is hefty.

Not au fais with Fiats but when I was putting the supply in for my rear view camera, I found a second cigar lighter socket behind the dash of my Renault Master, might be worth a guddle about behind yours ?

good point when mine arrives:sick::sleep::whistle:

Are we talking "USB-memory-stick" (I have a couple of 16gb). Or a memory card like wot I stick in me camera? A pic would be helpful(y)

Micro SD card is what's needed, class 10 is best for moving images, higher transfer rate.

Got a 32gb in both of mine but that is personal choice as they are so cheap at the moment, 32gb Samsung class 10, just over 11 quid.

Hymie.

Tiny little thing the size of the nail on your little finger.

We too have gone for the forward facing cam only.

Mine came today too, thanks jaws, just 1 question (at the moment!), how do you "format" the sd card?, I'm a bit thick with these techy things!
Thanks in advance,
Cheers, Dave(y)

a minor issue is that the cigar plug contains a voltage regulator to step from 12v down to 5v for the usb plug
you need one of these to hardwire it in
Broken Link Removed

Might be a clue, :) might it not?

put a new micro sd card in the dashcam and it will offer to format it for you. it also puts a piece of software on the card to view the resulting videos

When you put the card in the PC you should see just one programme on it.. Click on that and the viewer opens :-)

Fitted mine today, all working OK on the drive, off to Wharfedale CC site on sunday so hopefully a successful install.........
Don't miss the next exciting installment!
Cheers, Dave (y)

Got our card from tesco,,roughly same price as internet, and a lot easier to take back if it goes faulty....

I use a 32Gb class 10 in my dash cam, which is a true HD one which I also use for getting bits of travelling footage for my 'holiday films'. The picture quality is better than a hand held HD camera as it doesn't wobble all over the place. The only drawback is the line of info along the bottom of the picture which can't be removed, still it reminds me of the date I was there.
